Re: Safe basic effects and levels during writing and mastering
Effort is effort. No. The Pareto Principle is generally true. Efforts don't bring equal rewards. The sensible approach is to focus on the things that will bring the greatest reward with the least effort, unless you are seeking mastery. Even then the principle can be applied to optimise your methods...

Re: Safe basic effects and levels during writing and mastering
Stromkraft , Thanks for that insight into a dedicated musician’s approach. But that level of sophistication is way over my head. Reading it reminds me that I want to avoid the temptation to go down that road because it grows endlessly complex and nuanced. That approach is for people who love detail...

Safe basic effects and levels during writing and mastering
Hi all, I read this comment in a thread, and it got me wondering if this idea can be taken further: “The first thing you should do when you install Live 9 Standard or Suite is put the Glue Compressor onto a drum kit track and also put it on the master with a little compression right click it and ena...

Re: To Ableton representatives: please, share Ableton roadmap
Dont know why they still keep the feature request page on the forum. A daw that doesnt support 4k No mousewheel No custom shortcuts No cincere communication with the users Feels like deadware Look how loved reaper is. Because it feels communal. Very alive with two sided communication. Look at the p...

Re: squeeze Arrangement View vertically
How do you make all tracks narrower in arrangement view? I know you can collapse/fold them up individually, but i'd still like to view their wave-forms and midi information; I just want them all to get narrower, so i can fit them on the screen. Click on a track heading, then Ctrl+A to select them a...

Re: 13 advanced tips for Operator
I don't mind that process, I will often jot down ideas with my basic template set which has some quick to use low-rent instruments and effects. If the "demo" song is really worth saving I'll swapping out the basic sound with something equivalent but better. I don't mind replacing the soun...

Re: Studio One
Wow, this is now serious competition for Ableton and all other DAWs. For dance, probably Ableton wins. For pop songs, probably Studio One wins. I'd say these are the two best DAWs now.mareproduction wrote:Studio One is a growing beast. But i still love Ableton.

Re: 13 advanced tips for Operator
Tip 14: If you are a newbie, there are better things to learn than Operator. I don't think that's the case because this is not about Operator as much as it is about the principles of synthesis... I have about 200 songs and part songs with Ableton instruments, and some of them are good, but the soun...

Re: Automation question
I don't know if this answers the question, but I made it a default to have Utility on every new track. And I use that for automation. That way I can use the mixer faders for, um, mixing. Wish Abes would put another box on the tracks for volume automation, so that the mixer faders are free to do thei...

Re: Win10: new low latency API options for ableton devs
This would be worth emailing Ableton themselves rather than the forum. I'd love to see Windows getting better for audio.

Re: Key Scale and Chord Tracks to Improve Composing
I think as a minimum, they should allow you to swap the compulsory sharps to flats in the midi editor. As it is, working in keys that have flats means you have to do extra thinking converting the scale to a sharps equivalent.

Re: Browser separation of plugin Instruments and FX
It would be great if you could create shortcuts (right-click > create shortcut) to all the folders, and then collapse all the folders in the browser and just use your newly created shortcut folders. Then highlight all the FX plugins, ableton FX, etc., then right-click > create shortcut. Then move al...

Re: Save previews for presets in Live 9
Maybe *.alc files allow you to do something like this. But it's a cumbersome workaround.

Re: Simple Windows Laptop for music sketches needed
Anything equal to or above:
1) i5 dual core
2) 8gb ram
3) SSD would be ideal, but most people swap out the HDD for an SSD after they buy the laptop.
