Some of us also work in surround. Polychannel would allow us to manipulate a 4 or 5 or 8 channel stream as one clip ( which is how we see/think of such a file).

I happen to work in surround. So 4 sends are not enough to begin sending to specific 'pairs' of outputs plus some fx busses. 8 sends would about do it.

This was posted to another forum but belongs in this discussion... What is missing in this discussion is the fact that the paradigm shift is not merely 'elastic audio' but the Sessions view. For me the break away from a linear 'piano-roll' formatted tool is the key to Ableton Live which I truly love...
