Two short tracks - Coldwave and Glitch - works in progress!!

Hi Everyone, I've had Live 8 Suite for almost a month now and I'm really loving it. I feel like I'm getting to a point where I can imagine a sound and then create it in Live. Very cool! Here are a couple of tracks I've been working on this week. I'd love to get some feedback as they are both still w...

Basic stuff. Cutting up a sample and triggering the pieces

Hey all, I don't know why I can't figure this out but... I recorded some audio off of a movie (dialog) and loaded it into sampler. I know how to chop it up into .adv files and load those pieces into Impulse where I can play them like drum hits. But how do I chop up a .wav into smaller pieces that ar...

Re: Understanding global quantization

Yur2die4, I'm just not sure what removing stop buttons would help with? Does that make is so when you go from scene 1 to scene 2 that a scene 1 clip with no stop button will keep playing? I'm at work so can't try it lol. Thanks man.

Re: How to lock a clip view box in place?

In preferences tick "Select on Launch" off Hey, that looks like it works! Cool. Is the reason you would want Select on Launch ON because you might have a controller with Automap so it switches to the new macros in a rack right away? My controller, Cakewalk A300 doesn't have native support...

Re: Understanding global quantization

No, what he's saying is arrange all your normal playback clips into scenes using a 1 bar global quant. For any additional clips you want at a smaller quant, insert scenes in between your main ones, and drop the clips in there. That way you can launch a scene normally, then have additional cells for...

Re: Understanding global quantization

OK so now I'm really confused how people use Live to play.... live! So if you are a one-man band playing on a stage, you have to be THAT on the ball that you start the next scene on the last 16th note of the current scene? Or else you risk the rest of the song being off a beat or worse. What do peop...

Understanding global quantization

Hey everyone, I have a question I can't seem to figure out. I have a small project I'm working on and all the clips are assigned to pads on my controller. I have them all set to Repeat and the quantization set to 1/16 so I can experiment with some stuttering effects. In session view, I have no troub...

Re: Switching/Selecting Instruments with a controller

Simmer, sorry to revisit this topic but what did you mean by "chain selector to scroll between them"?

I know how to make an instrument rack and I know how to midi-map but can you elaborate? I too would like to move between the instruments in a chain.

Thanks

How to lock a clip view box in place?

Hey all, I know I read how to do this in the manual but I can't find it now. I have a few audio clips in a track. I am triggering them quantized to 1/16 using drum pads on my Cakewalk A300 controller. I also have the Transpose virtual knob mapped to knob R1 on my keyboard. The problem is, every time...

Electronic/EBM track - feedback?

Hi everyone, Been working on this one the last couple of evenings. I just upgraded to Live 8 Suite... Learning how to mix and master and I think this sounds pretty good. I'd say it's still a work in progress but I like where it's headed. Any feedback? http://soundcloud.com/lienan82/01-15-12-mix-2

Re: Want to learn more about compression, eq's, mastering

Tarekith, thanks for the link! I read the first mixing tutorial so far and really learned a lot. Or actually, it explained how to fix problems I had already identified. Thank you! I made a Mix 2 which is on my soundcloud showing the results. Very nice!

Want to learn more about compression, eq's, mastering

Hey all, A little background... I'm 29... been listening to and interested in music as long as I can remember. I played guitar in a punk band in junior high. I messed around with ReBirth in high school, then ended up buying a few old synths and learned about MIDI not long after. When I got into coll...

Re: Best keyboard controller? Using Cakewalk A300 right now.

Lots of good discussion in here! So far this is my most annoying problem: I have both Live 8 Suite and Reason. The A300 has about 8 knobs and 8 sliders I can assign. Unfortunately when I open Reason, set the controller up according to the instructions and turn ACT on, there are a few knobs such as i...
