tips/techniques to move from Guru-> native live for drums.

I'm mixing up the way I do my drums, currently I use guru and bounce everything down to audio (kick loop/snare loop/hats loop/ perc loop), but I'd like to keep it in MIDI in arrangement so I can change notes to keep things interesting and use lives native groove/sample devices to let me automate dec...

Re: Ableton Live ver. 7.0 compatible with 64-bit Windows OS?

I just finished installing my DAW and win7 ultimate 64bit, Live7 had massive graphics lag until I put in 'vista' compatibility mode, now its fine. Very speedy and neat to. Live7 Dcam synth squad Massive Reaktor Guru DrDevice Ricochet PSP nitro all seem fine so far. When I gear back with auth-codes f...

Still on live7 here as well.

I think dual monitor support, being able to automate some 'CC' assigned midi knobs for external instruments would be tempting.

Being able to run other peoples max patches would be pretty hard to resist.

Monitors (size+res advice please!)

Right, getting a new monitor so I can set my desktop up dualboot/dual monitor and retire the laptop which is starting to get overwhelmed on CPU. Currently I have: 17" laptop screen at 1920x1200 which is to small to be comfortable reading info from live 19" 1440x900 second monitor which ends up with ...

Re: live 8 performance on an intel core i3 gateway?

If your 2 year old macbook is running a core2duo 2.0 or there abouts, I'd think the gateway would humble it, then eat it.

But... I suspect the flames will fly and we'll all cry for a live-performance duel between the two

Re: Serious mixing/mastering setup, advice please

Besides, a lot of dance-music artists seem to do it themselves to a decent enough standard to put out and play out. that is what they think... but i decided to stop discussing mastering around here, it's a waste of time and energy. people who know me, know my take on it. Well surely the point of ma...

Re: Serious mixing/mastering setup, advice please

Just learn how to mix, and bring your production to a good mastering engineer. He has the goodies, good trained ears, good room, good equipment. Ahh well I'd love for some audio-genius to let that lot loose on the tracks, but unless some label hears them and wants to master them and then put them o...

Re: Serious mixing/mastering setup, advice please

Thats good advice I'm sure, but at the same time I'd rather pick a set of tools thats going to do a really good job and then learn with those, and stick with them. Otherwise I'll end up having to learn with live-devices and then learn/feel out whatever I end up using if you see what I mean. I do hav...

Serious mixing/mastering setup, advice please

I've been thinking a lot and I think one of the major things my tracks right now are lacking is quality mixing and mastering, something to be honest I have found pretty dull till now and kinda tried to avoid or rushed through  Still now I have some really nice stuff that I just feel needs that...

Re: Automating Hardware Synths in Live 8

What live really needs is 8 macro-knobs on the external instrument device that you can asign midi CC's to. That way you could set it up once and have filter freq/res/lfo amount/lfo rate - attack/decay/sustain/realise or something for each external instrument, and automate it like you would a live de...

Slice from arrangement to session feature?

Was wondering if there is any way to do this, or if people think it would be a useful feature to be added in the future. A way to highlight a period of time in the arrangement view, and then to slice it onto a scene in session so it would loop with automation. I'd find this really helpful in playing...

Re: How useful is the groove-pool for house/techno?

Thanks for the input :) Yesterday I also hit that hugely annoying problem when you want to automate something but its not in the first 128 things Live7 finds which poked me to upgrade as well.

How useful is the groove-pool for house/techno?

With the current discounts ending fairly soon (and my birthday being just before they do!) I took another look at upgrading from Live7->8. The only function besides little convenience things like track-grouping I can see that looks like it could make it worth upgrading is the groove-pool. I make tec...

Re: I'm looking for a Nord Lead 1 Do you want to sell yours ?

Are you UK? I have one, if your desperate and make an offer I cant refuse its yours. Not trying to be an arse and hold you to ransom, its my most-used hardware synth by a long way but being out of work if its a good offer I'd have to seriously consider it. Do you find a big difference between the 1 ...
