Driver error compensation and sample rates
Hello, My early version Mackie Onyx recording mixer has been a disaster with timing since it was brand new in every DAW, so this isn't specifically a Live problem necessarily. BUT. I went through the built in Live lesson and definitely fixed the timing at a 44.1khz sample rate. A few weeks later, I ...

Re: What digital distribution service do you use?
CD baby and Bandcamp. Those two work for digital distribution. CD baby also does a certain amount of physical sales, but for that I rely on Amazon Advantage for the majority of physical sales.

Re: So, who's ready for Windows 10?
I've upgraded 3 computers to Windows 10, and everything went smoothly. All of my music software and hardware now runs quicker, I'm able to use a smaller buffer, and there seems to be better stability. I used to hate Microsoft, but this has been a wonderful upgrade for me. Good for them, and thanks f...

Re: Live 9.2 crashes – should I switch back to 9.1?!
9.2 has been far more stable for me. 9.1 was far, far worse (especially the later versions).

Re: Does streaming really help?
My two cents: Streaming is a very small upgrade to the previous status quo: outright theft by piracy (assuming the musician isn't giving it away). Look, the old model that used to provide musicians with a real shot at earning a living wage with their recordings went out with the invention of Napster...

Re: Condenser Mic Recommendations for Guitar / Voice
owlmerlyn,
I actually think the new crop of Chinese ribbons are quite useable and represent an excellent value. I like my MXL R144 on a lot of instruments, and I've heard some ribbons that aren't that much more expensive that seem to sound good on just about everything.

Re: If I export at 120 BPM, Traktor reads it as 60 BPM. Why?
60 bpm IS 120 bpm IS 240 bpm etc. It just depends on what division of the beat you're talking about. No software audio analyzer can read your mind, that's why they all have a double/halve button.

Strange behavior with clip RAM mode and disk overloads
Hello all, Over the weekend a did a large scale recording session with multiple tracks recording takes of drums and bass at 24/96 quality. I was well aware that once I hit a certain track count I would encounter disk overload, however I thought I had a good plan to deal with that: loading some of th...

Getting MIDI from Live 9 into Live 8. Best Practices?
Hello all, I'm leading a collaboration of several musicians running Live. Almost all of us are using version 9, but there are some v8 holdouts. As I was doing the initial MIDI programming for the whole group, I made a dumb decision and did the whole thing in v9. I need to make a version of this als ...

Re: Help a scrub - Ableton / Push / Gaia
You do have to bounce the original track. Most often folks do this by making a new audio track and recording the output of the track with the external instrument on it. The only exception to this is if you're working with a multitimbral machine that has multiple outputs. In that case you can keep us...

Re: Second Audio Track Off
Da Hand's suggestion is fine for the track you already have recorded, but it won't fix the real problem. The issue is probably something that Ableton calls "driver error," which is when your sound hardware's timing is off. There is a way to fix it. Take a look at the built in lesson on dri...

I would love to be able to publish my generative compositions that make use of follow actions as exe or dmg files so as to preserve the generative qualities for the listener.

Re: iPad synths with Live: music io or studiomux bundle?
I purchased the studiomux bundle today, however it has some very erratic behavior on my Win 7 x64 machine that renders it unusable with almost all of my iPad synths. Too bad, I was looking forward to this elegant solution. Hopefully this can be solved with some support, I'll report back once that's ...

iPad synths with Live: music io or studiomux bundle?
Does anyone have experience with these apps meant to transmit audio and MIDI between iOS devices and a DAW? I'm about to buy one of them so as to incorporate some of the better iOS synths. Looking for ease of use, stability, and support for multiple bit depths and sample rates.
