The bass is sidechained w/ the kick as the input - however that shouldn't affect the kick volume (right?).
Track volume is set to -8db, track meter is reading -8db
(sadly sounds like there be a user factor in here)

Metering + Peak Level Question
Hey guys, Quick question that I am sure has a reasonable and easy answer. When I am metering a kick drum on a single channel. The Kick's channel meter reads it's level as -8db However, when I solo the kick, and check the level on the master channel, it reads the level as -4db Why would it be read di...

Re: Ni apology for Kore discontinuation, offers free packs?
I read about this but I didn't get this email
Hoping its on its way.
The FM8 ones are great, as are the massive expansions, I think I may get the "acoustic refractions" one if I get this voucher

Did you record the audio from what the DX7 and the SH-01 were playing into Ableton?

Re: N.I. Traktor 10 for recording? Or Komplete Audio 6
Thank you for the insight - that was certainly something I was concerned about. I think I can get away w/o needing direct monitoring as I am recording audio from sequenced synths, etc. Are you using yours this way (to record external synths)? Do you find that the synths volume isn't loud enough or n...

N.I. Traktor 10 for recording? Or Komplete Audio 6
Is there anyone out there using the Native Instruments Traktor 10 for recording external audio like synths and drum machines (ie: not turntables)? It has 5 stereo ins and 5 stereo outs, would I be able to use it as 10 mono ins and 10 mono outs? Is there any reason this would be a bad idea? Basically...

I loved FactMags DJ Rolando Podcast (for many reasons) and it sounds like it may be up your alley: http://www.factmag.com/2011/02/07/fact-mix-220-rolando/

Re: Dance producers: Are you tuning your kick drums?
Simple answer! Yes......... :D :) If I may ask, do you tune it by pitching the sample (it will get shorter or longer then the original) or do you create a new kick from a synth, for each new track? You could use the kick as an audio file, enable warping and use transpose to tune - therefore keeping...

Re: Want to chop breaks into sampler instruments
What do you need help with?
It seems like the youtube videos explain it clearly - is there something specific that has you stuck?
Drag all of the sounds you want to a sampler, then right click in the keyrange, and distribute evenly.

And maggot ridden spam too http://www.sirwarwick.hostinguk.com/images/smilies/vomit-smiley-024.gif This isn't spam from Lazer Sword. I know the guys, and they have a billion things better to do than spam forums - like tour non-stop, and release group + solo albums, singles, and remixes. That said -...

Re: Do you read 3phase posts? (Please move to Lounge)
Not sure where all the hate for 3Phase is from, but I do think this post is in poor taste, and the mods kindly asked us to not make these kinds of posts. That said, yes, I read all of his posts. I don't agree 100% of the time, but I think 3Phase is very intelligent and actually ADDS a lot to the dis...

Re: new mac and serato keep crashing
You might find better results asking this on the Serato forums.
Or are you using it in Bridge mode?
My first thought would be to make sure your OS, Serato, and Ableton are most current versions.

Re: Driving Live's meters into the red
Keep in mind that while you can drive the track meters into the red, you could inadvertently be clipping any plug ins on those channels in the process (depending on how the plug ins handle hot signals). Best to just be smart about your gain staging and don't let things get to that point anyway. /th...

Re: Kicks - how do you get yours?
I just use samples: back in the day, mostly from vinyl, lately I have been using samples of drum machines. The harshness you mention might be from saturation or compression. As for Rick Snowman, the book is great, but it's not the only way to do things. Use compression if you need or want to. You ca...
