I use a mixer, but I would suggest getting the audio interface anyway since it will give you more options later when you want to play live and cue things.

Do what the vast majority of working musicians do and play live? This doesn't apply for the vast majority of electronic artists. I know some do but most don't play live. Dance music for example is mostly a producers medium. Which is even more reason to go out and play live - if you can pull it off ...

A better question is if it is possible to make a comfortable living WITH a label.

I have been on various labels for years. It is possible to make more money without labels than with.

Of course it depends on your definition of comfortable living...

I need 100k a year.

I'm sure ableton gave him a copy of Live in hopes he'd use it on anything so he can be a reference like he is on the native instruments site.

It's just marketing. Means nothing.

I second this. I use CamelPhat3 and this is a free version of just the distortion part. Works good on synths anyway, never really tried it on guitar.

from http://www.0xf8studios.com/index.php?page=faq While nothing wrong with using mastering plugins or applications to enhance your material, you should really think of mastering not so much a tool or effect, but a series of processes that a well trained engineer performs based on a number of subjec...

You use scenes to record it on to the arrangement window. Then all the tempo changes are exact and there on the arrangement screen as you want. Think of Ableton as a live instrument, you use clips and scenes to "record" the arrangement live. You can get exactly what you want this way. I ha...

I highly recommend the Ableton Sampler. You can record directly on a clip then drag and drop it right on a zone.

Your question doesn't really make sense. You don't need a sampler to do that in Live.

Use scenes. Put each song as its own scene, and name the scenes as the value you want for bpm. So if the song is at 80.3bpm, name the scene exactly that. When you trigger that scene, it will change the master tempo to that bpm. File under tip and trick. If you name scenes XXXbpm, no spaces, it will ...

People are either putting them flat on their desk, where their ears are probably several feet above them... or pu...
