Surprisingly yes, setting it to somewhat else then 0 make it "sloped" for some fast changes.

ADDED: it said that the default Live value is .45 but as far as I can see the default is 0.

Re: Why automation recording is "stepped"?

Actually I consider it as a serious bug/flaw by design. Although I don't tend to use the automation recording much in my workflow, when I do use it I always end heavily re-editing it removing the "steps" I guess I can understand why it was made this way. Say you stop moving your fader at ...

Re: Why automation recording is "stepped"?

The reason is likely because at any given point the controller is sending discrete stepped values as resolution is limited, so Live is just being honest here I think. As far as I know a midi controller sends only one new value at a time, without repeating the previous one, so naturally in must be &...

Why automation recording is "stepped"?

I don't really use it that much for my needs, but it surprise me why it was designed to make any automation records "stepped" instead of "sloped", which seems more natural to me?

Re: Touchscreen monitors experience?

Thank you very much for the reply. I clearly understand what you mean. I was interested and really hope for some more people reporting their incredible experience with a touchscreens but it seems not to be the case.

Re: Touchscreen monitors experience?

I see. Do you think it is good idea to get a touchscreen monitor as (instead) a MIDI controller, to complement a standard setup? As far as I know there should be some customize able software, Lemur kind of something for it.

Re: Touchscreen monitors experience?

What kind of smartphone do you have? iPhones have some uniquely smooth and robust music capabilities. But most apps are kind of for individual purposes. You can connect midi controllers to them etc. Just a modest LG - something - Leon, so even it impressed me a lot. Don't get me wrong, it's not tha...

Re: Touchscreen monitors experience?

Yeah, you are more or less confirming what was my impression also. Was really hoping for something opposite. Strange, why it is so? ...BTW I just got my first smartphone, was stayed away from it for years, did not have any need in it actually, so they forced it by presenting one to me - I was extrem...

Touchscreen monitors experience?

Hi, So, what is going on in this area nowadays, anyone use a touchscreen computer monitor regularly in their audio production daily basis? I'm not talking about assisting devices (tablets, mobile computers, etc.) So far I don't see touchscreen monitors being popular in the studios, I (almost) always...

Re: Default grid/zoom for new MIDI cllips?

My new clips in new tracks get a fixed grid of 16ths. Of course, the grid and the zoom factor are 2 different things. I have made my own track templates that may affect this. Interesting. I'm not able to replicate it whatever I try with defaults. Any idea? Could you please share your project that y...

Re: Default grid/zoom for new MIDI cllips?

Yes I did. It is obviously cool that live can open your projects, including the default one, exactly as you left them, including even the selection, play head position, zooms, etc. But seems no easy way to set the default ... at least grid settings for the new midi clips. It must be governed by som...

Re: Default grid/zoom for new MIDI cllips?

Yes, it seems to be impossible. I guess it is better to describe as the grid is always in Adaptive - Narrow state (which I very much dislike. Say, I work on a single track (channel), add new clips and need it to be all the way Fixed - Eights, but it keep resetting all the time). And it always zooms ...

Default grid/zoom for new MIDI cllips?

Is there a way to set the default grid/zoom for new MIDI clips? Mine are always Adaptive-Narrow and zoomed a lot. Also it is rather annoying that even if I set it to what I need still all the new clips in the same track are still appear with that default settings.
