Re: Buzz Word Alert: What the hell is Controllerism?
I appreciate everyone's input. I'm going to conclude there's no real definition of controllerism. It's either about quality of performance, perceived skill of performance or perceived skill with instrument, an act of performance that shows perceived skill, an entertaining performance or a scene/cul...

Re: what is music Q & A
I have decided to start a thread and ask you what music is. If I don't like your answer I will tell you that you're wrong no matter what you say. discuss... Music is a word. The word has several meanings. It can refer to methods of representation (eg "sheet music"). It can refer to certai...

Re: is it possible to warp a song from major key to minor?
It's not really a debate. It is one person who is stuck in a mental rut who has his own definition of music that doesn't correspond with anyone else's and who just keeps repeating the same thing. A number of other people have tried to engage in rational debate but all have given up in the end becaus...

Re: the topic of topics: MIDI vs AUDIO ("what is music"?)
IMO only MIDI tracks can be considered "music" in a sequencer. MIDI sequences are representations of music, just as a photograph might represent a person. The representation is not the thing itself. Surely this is obvious? Music can be represented in various ways, including MIDI, but thes...

Re: Should I Upgrade?
I recently upgraded from 6 to 8 suite because they offered a good deal. The basic functionality of the program is the same but there are some significant enhancements. For example instrument racks and drum racks ( the latter seems to make impulse redundant). Of course with suite you get all the inst...

Re: You just stay home and play synthesizers

Complete beginner at this and want something thats easy to get to grips with, not going to break the bank but still puts out some quality sounds. Re: scale of automation lane
You can resize every automation lane in the same manner as you resize audio tracks. (Move your mouse to the left side of the arrangement view where you can read the names of your tracks, then to the bottom edge of your automation lane. Now you have to see the resize icon as a mouse cursor. Click an...

New Computer. How to reinstall?
I had Live4.0 on my old laptop, upgraded to version 5 then version 6. I have just changed laptops. I have downloaded the latest version of Live, but should I just install that, or should I install my version 4 again and then install the upgrade? Or something else? Thanks, David.
