Foobar2000 for when I'm listening to music. VLC for playing everything video related. FreeCDDA for ripping. Media Monkey for getting shit to my iPod. (Removed iTunes and Quicktime completely from my system, piece of shit doesn't work properly in XP ever... using quicktime alternative for .mov) wow!...

I use the electrovoice ND 767. I believe it's clearer than the SM57.

Possibly my favorite free plug in is Elotronix XL: http://www.uv.es/~ruizcan/p_vst.htm When you get the hang of this Frippertonics emulator there is so much you can do with it. I had 5 of these for 5 differenc instruments on different timing chains with a clean drum track to keep everything aligned...

I'll reiterate: companies make up these numbers. there is no standard for measurement or reporting. So don't trust these numbers AT ALL. Of course there is. There are a number of ways to measure a speakers' frequency response...(edited for bevity by laird]... That's what the frequency response grap...

Good idea but it'll be better to state the OS as well as various products may have good drivers for one OS but not so good for another. my Presonus Firebox under XP is really transparrent. Once it's set up I never had to do anything else. I know my buddy is having HUGE issues with his e-mu 0404 USB ...
