I can't reproduce this. What's your buffer size in the Audio preferences? Does it help to decrease it?

I haven't been able to use Max 7 at all, with the 9.5 update it crashed on start-up again. I have many M4Live devices for controlling Reason in my default set. If you use e.g. Convolution Reverb in your Template set, you might remove it, install the pack, re-add it to your Template set.
If you experience a Crash, support@ableton.com will sort you out.

The reason is, if i remember correctly, that in this case a continuous change of the parameter is not possible, therefore the mouse down is used to disable the continuous movement and mouse up sets the new value. This is not possible with a mapped parameter of course.

Of course, loosing work is not acceptable, so it's with the LFO and other devices as with any other devices: if you
find an issue, let us know about it and we'll fix it.

It is by design that Decay and Size can not be mapped - this has not changed since it's release.
