Re: Rock bands, drum plug-ins, and pro studios
Death Metal and its variants make heavy use of drum samples and have for some time. With their tempos it is impossible to make a drum kit sound the way they want.

Re: Format for burning cd
What year is this? Been without a cell phone for a few days and now a question about burning CD's... iTunes is an ok solution that you might already have. You make a playlist with your song(s). Then burn the playlist to disc. Make sure to not make an MP3 cd so it will play in all CD palyers Not sure...

Re: Ideal personal computer setup for Ableton Live 9
Since you asked about a sound card recommendation.
Do you have an external audio interface? If you are using a standard sound card of the motherboard than an audio interface will improve things significantly.
Have you tried adjusting your buffers/latency?

Re: Moog yoyager as Master Keyboard
The Voyager does have a setting to turn MIDI OUT on/off. Consult the manual to confirm it is set to on. Sometimes people get confused with IN/OUT of Midi. Make sure you have the MIDI OUT of the Voyager hooked up to the MIDI IN on your MIDI interface. Though since you can receive into the Voyager I d...

Re: Experiences with wifi connections at festivals
Disclaimer: I am only a lowly IT grunt and not a festival performer. In all cases if you can use a wire over wireless then by all means use a wire. Much less chance of things going wrong. I worked as a tech for a few festivals. They tend to be a whole lot of chaos behind the scenes. Why introduce mo...

Re: Laptop hard drive 5400 Rpm ?
It depends. Can you make music with the drive? Yes. Can you have 100+ tracks with lots of edits? No. Somewhere in between is where you will be. How do you use Live? I can make some songs with four tracks, some I need over forty. I say just use it until you run into a problem. Then make submixes to k...

Re: Ideal Macbook spec for audio production
It is hard to balance the things that you want to. Sure you can read spec sheets, reviews, etc. but no one is going to know how well your system is going to perform with your workflow. The simple answer is buy the best that you can afford. If you are budget conscious than you need to stay away from ...

Re: How do you play live with many projects? (fast switch?)
A very common way is to resample your tracks into stems. Take all the bass tracks and mix them down to a single track. Take all drums and mix do the same. I try and get my songs down to 8 tracks seem. Each part of the song gets its own set of clips. So for a typical song I might have 5-6 scenes with...

Re: Driver Delay Compensation Issues
There is no way to get 0 ms latency with a digital system. I am fine once I get to less than 10 ms. Not sure how you could even get it set to 0 ms. There has to be some sort of time involved to convert the audio to digital.

Re: Set glitched out but no CPU spikes?
Nothing like heat to mess with electronics so that could be it. Could be. No way to really know. How about a better plan? Anytime you play live always have two of everything. That is S.O.P. on tour. However, I do understand that we all don't have the checkbook to finance that. So I would do this. Ge...

Possibly the expression pedals are moving slightly when you hold the pedal down.

The most convenient option is renting a phone that will work over in Europe while still here. It will very expensive.
The cheapest option is buying a 'burner' phone once overseas.

Re: Is EQ8 a linear phase equalizer?
Part of what gives eq its sound is phase shifting. You will notice when using a linear phase like PSP Neon is that you can make more drastic boosts and cuts before you 'hear' them. As others have said stop worrying about what plug in sounds better than another plug in. A good engineer can use any to...
