Re: Ableton Push: Questions & Answers
The number of user modes "out of the box" doesn't really matter, because you can build as many as you want to devote buttons to. Like, consider a monome patch with multiple pages - you decide "these 4 buttons are my page selectors", which are essentially different modes. So the o...

Re: Better Sound Engine?
If George Martin and the Beatles had Live 8, Waves Mercury, an Apogee quartet, an Imac and their microphones from their studio they would create a masterpiece. They wouldn't be sitting around bitching about the sound quality. Imagine having to work with a tape based four track recorder. No undo but...

what do you aim for in CPU usage?
Got a question for all of you. I will confess full ignorance on this, pretty much. For no real reason at all, I've decided that I really like to keep my CPU meter around %30. The non-reason I want to do this is because I arbitrarily decided that my laptop felt hot enough at %30, and that anything ho...

Bidirectional audio support for ReWire?
Hey everyone, I'd really like to play with Reason 6's new performance effects with my Live set, and so I'm campaigning with Propellerhead to consider implementing bidirectional audio support for a future version of ReWire. If that sounds appealing to you, I'd appreciate it if you'd pop over to https...

Off topic but I wanted to say I really enjoyed your pieces on live performance (and Silence, as well).

Re: Midi recording with Instant Haus
You need to think of Instant Haus like an effect. All effects are post-input.

Re: Midi recording with Instant Haus
What do you mean by "document" the clips?
(first thought: you are trying to record the midi on a track other than the one that holds instant haus, right? you need to use a track "downstream" from the plug-in...)

It is super easy to change the patterns, if you're willing to put in a bit of effort. I believe in you! You can do it.

Re: Changing a clip's color when its notes changes
Naw, I just did it. It seems to work pretty well, even by brute force methods.
Clips have an observable property "notes" that sends a bang when a clip's note list changes. I use that bang to send the color message. Done.

Changing a clip's color when its notes changes
So it would be really useful to me to have my MIDI clips switch color when their contents change. And I can see a brute force way to do this, clearly, with an live.observer for each clip observing "notes" triggering an associated "color" message into an live.object. But I have 32...
