Re: Problem Komplete Kontrol s49 mk2 integration with Ableton Live Intro

I already did this. Everything seems ok. The Komplete Kontrol VST.adg appears inside the instrument rack, but it doesn't launch or work. It's empty. I think this may be calling for a really simple “fix”. Now that you have Komplete Kontrol in the instrument rack, click the wrench icon in the title b...

Re: Midi Editor/Piano Roll

+1, especially 1,2,3, and 5. Regarding the scale, I also like how FL Studio can auto detect the key of a midi clip and set the shading accordingly. Some others: 1. Highlight the entire note row while hovering the cursor in the piano roll. This makes it very easy to see how a note will fit in context...

Re: [Total Noob Question] : Mult-track recording in one action

This should be easily solvable as it’s a basic core capability of Live. Go to Arrangement View, the View where all tracks are horizontal. Select the record arm button for each track to be recorded. The record arm button is the record button positioned to the right of each individual track. Th...

Re: Why does Ableton keep adding new features that no one wants?

My favorite new features of 10.1 are pinch-to-zoom and VST3 support. Pinch-to-zoom took Ableton from a somewhat clunky feeling interface to a much more intuitive one. It’s my favorite DAW now to scroll and zoom around on with a trackpad. I would still love to see enhancements to the piano roll akin ...

Re: Ableton Arrangement View Automation

You can record only automation on an existing track if you enable the Automation Arm button and disable the track’s Recording Arm button, and then select the Record button. Then move the controls you would like to automate while recording is ongoing. It will save only the automation data and leave t...

Re: Newbie Trying to Record Guitar

Yes, you’d want to add the EQ after the amp and NadIR. Although, it should be possible to get a very usable or even great tone without the EQ in at all. Also, if you are using NadIR, make sure the amp sim doesn’t already have a cab sim built in. Most of them do have some kind of cab sim. If it has o...

Re: Newbie Trying to Record Guitar

No problem! Adding an IR shouldn’t be adding any distortion. If that’s what’s happening (and it doesn’t happen using the amp plugin without NadIR) then it is probably because of the signal becoming too high inside NadIR. If your signal reaches the max level in the digital world, 0 dBFS, it clips whi...

Re: Newbie Trying to Record Guitar

I don’t have the Scarlett, so some of this is based on what is shown in pictures and the manual. Hope this helps. First step is to make sure the Scarlett hardware is set up correctly. Plug the guitar into input 1 on the front directly using a cable. Set the line/inst switch to inst (instrument). Kee...

And putting the scale‘s notes in to the negative timeline and folding it is a workflow-killer, imo.
Oops, just noticed you already referred to the method I described. Anyway, I completely agree with the need for this feature!

Re: MIDI Editor Scale mode

+1 You can do a workaround by drawing in all notes of a scale in one beat and then selecting the Fold button. Easiest way is to draw notes on only the white keys, which is C major / A minor. To generate a different scale select all the notes and move them up or down to line up with the starting poin...

I’m not a pro at all, but to answer the question regarding what plugin can be used to create any sound you can imagine.. Look at u-he Zebra. Wow, phenomenal synth that has a lot of depth and has been used for sound design on movies. Just be prepared to go deep down the rabbit hole of learning to pro...

Re: Still a newbie after 2 years

I recommend going to ask.video and signing up for a 1 month subscription. Cancel it before the month renews. I also don’t have time to dive deep into a course, and found their videos to be a quick way to find guidance. It may not be possible to have a template that gives you good sound quality in th...
