Freeze/flatten instruments, keep effects.
I'd like to be able to render a MIDI instrument to audio without freezing the effects. I use a hardware monosynth as an External Instrument a lot and often I find myself moving the effects to a different track, freezing , flattening, and moving the effects back, so I free up the synth but can still ...

Re: Melodic/Detroit Techno : Chords!
Try varying the numbers.
Also, try not to. A lot of early house/techno was sampled chords moved up and down as they are.
In fact, try sampling your chords.

Re: What's your favorite hardware synth?
My two main synths are a DSI Mono Evolver Keyboard and a Waldorf Microwave XT. I've also got a TX81Z (that I only ever use two sounds from), a Poly 800, and a Kurzweil K2000R. If I had to pick only one it'd probably be the MW because it can play more than one note at a time (which I think is gonna b...

Re: finally... BITWIG STUDIO! beta soon...
It runs on Linux, which is what I run. Now it just remains to be seen what kind of copyprotection scheme they're using... but it's quite possible this'll be what lures me away from Renoise. I was still (naïvely?) hoping that Ableton would come around, and that maybe I'd get access to all my old musi...

My first laptop nine years ago was a 12", my second laptop five years ago was a 12", my third laptop two years ago was 12" widescreen, and guess what size my next one's going to be? More isn't necessarily more, you know.Earwax69 wrote:You really seriously plan to work on a 13inch screen?

Re: How do I convert .wav to midi?
With understanding, problems tend to go away. Everything would be clearer if you read up on what MIDI actually is. MIDI is not sound. It is notes and control data. You send MIDI to instruments, which then make sound. If you have a sound file that you want to trigger with MIDI, you need an instrument...

Do you have a piano? Collaborative instrument making
I wish I'd had this idea first:
http://one-note.org/I want to gather ONE NOTE from a huge amount of different pianos from all over the world! And I only want ONE NOTE from each piano, so I can create one HUGE virtual instrument.

Re: BT's Stutter Edit is out
Yeah so I just got an e-mail from my boss I usually try to leave you alone down there, but I saw a video on YouTube of that goober BT showing off his 'new product' that would make it even easier to imitate his third rate muzak. This will not stand. Hence on February 1st 2011 all music technology of ...

I don't see how it would be that hard really though, surely all you have to do is alter the OSX version, I mean both OSX and Linux are UNIX derivatives, surely there's a lot of common ground? OSX if I remember correctly is direct descendent derivitive of the Mach OS micro kernel - which I think fir...

The stuff of Legend. Jobs visits PARC and sees Alto. The PARC geniuses are all scratching their heads with bewilderment because not only do they think they've just wasted their time with this ridiculous GUI, the leadership at Xerox think so as well. PARC sees a dud. I just read a great book about P...

It went a bit like Big Beat, didn't it?
First it was Blockrockin' Beats then suddenly it was Would You Go To Bed With Me. End genre, next!
