Re: Akai MPK and blue-hand device control

Bumpski.

Anyone got insight into this? I'm surprised that given Akai's experience with close Ableton integration, the MPK2 series would appear to lack this functionality.

Re: Anyone testing performance on new Macbook (not pro) Retina's

These benchmarks give a good sense for what performance might be like: http://browser.primatelabs.com/mac-benchmarks The standard 1.1 GHz model is roughly comparable to an 11-inch Air from 2012, or a 13-inch Macbook Pro from 2011. Those computers were most definitely capable of running Live smoothly...

Akai MPK and blue-hand device control

I have in my possession a shiny new Akai MPK249. A solidly-built controller. However, one thing is vexing me: the lack of a blue-hand appearing on devices. The appropriate control script is selected. I've experimented with various settings, but am currently using these settings, which make the most ...

Re: Let's talk about the new 12-inch Macbook

The core of my creative problem is that nothing sounds cool to my ears. I'll dick around with something - say, last night playing around with some chord progression - but it just doesn't go anywhere. It all sounds blah. It's like I'm overly jaded. Inspiration is a funny thing. I released a few dozen...

Re: Let's talk about the new 12-inch Macbook

Royale with cheese. Le Big Mac. This would suck less if the updates to the Macbook Pro line were more meaningful. But according to Geekbench, the updated Pro's are actually slightly slower than last year: http://www.macrumors.com/2015/03/10/macbook-pro-2015-benchmarks/ Faster memory and flash storag...

Re: Let's talk about the new 12-inch Macbook

Erik, what brought you to Luxembourg? That's quite a transition. Where'd you live in Seattle? I just went to up there for the first time a few weeks ago. It reminds me of a bigger, busier Denver. Awash in tech money. And goddamn I had the best Korean food ever at a place downtown. Jaw-droppingly goo...

Re: Let's talk about the new 12-inch Macbook

Yeah that's what I was thinking. The next update to the Pro will hopefully have something beyond the usual incremental spec upgrades.

Heh yes I did. I'm just counting down the minutes 'till this descends into a Mac vs. PC fanboy deathmatch.

Re: Let's talk about the new 12-inch Macbook

From a music-making perspective, I'm not thrilled with this device. Then why even bring it up?! I don't see threads discussing Chrome books for music making either. It's pretty much the same thing. Computer as an appliance - god I hate that trend Because I wanted to hear the opinions of all you hig...

Let's talk about the new 12-inch Macbook

From a music-making perspective, I'm not thrilled with this device. It's great to have a new form factor that sheds width and weight. And 8 GB standard (finally) is a smart move. But two things concern me: One lone Type C USD connector. Presumably we'd use that for our audio interface. That's all we...

Re: Chiptune on Ableton Live

My hands-down favorite is Peach. Check it out in action on this track: http://seven7hwave.bandcamp.com/track/0100000101001001 Alas, this VST isn't available on Windows. After switching to OSX, I've tried some other solutions like magical 8-bit plugin. There's also Plogue Chipsounds, which sounds gre...

How do you like Revalver compared to the other two?

I'll always have a soft spot for Peavey...still miss my bias-modded 5150 :(
