Re: Can anyone recommend some good Glitch Hop tracks/artists?
This might not be the right genre, but when I think of the phrase "Glitch Hop" I sort of think about Pretty Lights. All of his music is available for download from his site (like 6 albums worth) and it's pretty good. I saw him live about 2 months ago, and I felt like the live show was much...

Edit: Nevermind, that doesn't have the upgrade from 8 to Suite prices -- my bad :X

Re: Upgrading from Live to Suite
Are you logged in with the account that you registered Live with? For instance, I own Suite 8 -- from my screen when I click the link, there is only one product shown: Upgrade to Ableton Suite (Box) USD 149 You definitely do not pay full price on Suite if you own 8. The prices above look about right.

Re: Mastering - general practice
Also take note, some of the instrument and plugin settings you've chosen, may lead to a certain amount of randomness, which will change the sound every time it plays through. It would likely be best to work on a file where a part is actually bounced to audio, and therefor will not change, even sligh...

Re: Keyboard shortcut question.
I'm not sure what you mean by your first one, to make two break points in an automation line, I typically use the pen tool and adjust the points from there. Breaking a midi or sample block up into a certain point without having to copy and paste within the block. (Hope I explained this well) If by t...

Re: Dubstep Scratch and Bwahh
and i also wanted to now how to make the "bwahh" kind of sound (the sound gains intensity instead of losing it) this is a very good example http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cTpcfDKV0wA. This is likely simply a lowpass filter with an envelope. Maybe this will get you in the right direction. ...

Re: I may be using External Instrument wrongly - can anyone help
Wow, the routing possibilities seem very cool with that. Makes me want to consider getting some outboard at some point :) Anyway, check this dude's thread: http://forum.ableton.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=154543 He seems to be going through the same problem you are experiencing. I'm not familiar wit...

Re: XY controller that isn't a Kaoss Pad?
I second the Korg NanoPad for this application, but this application only. They may have increased the quality since the first gen, but my drum pads were shot immediately, and lots of others had the same problem at the time. Thankfully it was only like $45. Having the XY pad was pretty sweet though.

Re: Dubstep Scratch and Bwahh
Yes, it seems like people use Massive a lot, but you should be able to use whatever you've got. It's just a matter of learning how to use the synth instead of using presets. I don't make it myself typically, but you should be able to get a lot of the bass sounds with thick distortion, extreme compre...

Re: Good magazines, blogs, or sites with regular updates
Call me a weenie, but I love Future Music. It definitely has a lot of gear related stuff in it, but I find the biggest value in the "In The Studio" features on the DVD. I love watching how other artists work. Seeing someone else's workflow can add a lot of "DUH" moments to your o...

Re: I may be using External Instrument wrongly - can anyone help
I think at that point, you might have to bounce the audio to and audio channel for each patch. Like I mentioned above, I don't have a cool setup like that, but can only assume that you are routing 2x external instrument plugins to the same midi route, and from the same audio source-- unless it is ab...

Sure, but... People made good music back then too.rikhyray wrote: Same with the effects decade old, meant to run on 400 mhz computers with 16MB RAM. Propellerheads must scrap those old junky FX and synths and get something up to date if they want to stay in the game.

Re: reason essentials sale
Meh. I own Reason 6 and use it exclusively as an external instrument in Live. Perhaps your perception on Subtractor is that it is thin, and perhaps by itself it is, but I like pairing it with the Scream4 for certain sounds (I'm likely biased, because Subtractor is what taught me how to control a syn...

Re: My First DAW
Did anyone else come across those audio CD+Extras that had Mixman Studio LE bundled into it in the late 90s? http://s.dsimg.com/image/R-150-265071-1330048584.jpeg My friend bought this CD and it came with Mixman LE -- thus bad bedroom music was born. Sonic Foundry Acid was next. I used to use Hammer...

Re: I may be using External Instrument wrongly - can anyone help
I could be wrong about this, as I don't have outboard gear (I use External Instrument with other software instruments) but I don't think you want any volume coming directly from your Virus on your soundcard. If you can hear it playing while Live is closed, than this is the problem. Make sure you mut...
