Re: Dr Funkenstein - Live Looping

nice little jam, made my morning :) Thanks MacGuffin, glad you liked it. It's lot of fun to play this kind of stuff. It's amazing what one can do with a couple of loops in Live - once one has the midi control all figured out and configured... took me a while. In fact the midi control is still a wor...

Re: Music Theory

For me, the main features are: 1. The fascinating polyrhymic aspect to the plucked sequence, which emphasises groups of three juxtaposed against a straight 4-4 beat and holds interest way beyond the normal sell-by date of most musical parts. 2. The composer has an firm grip on the musical dynamics r...

Oh serious bummer.

I broke my thumb skiing a few years back, couldn't play for 4 or 5 months. It drove me nuts.

Dr Funkenstein - Live Looping

A bit of live looping for ya: http://vimeo.com/13405023 Equipment used: Slaptop running Ableton Live using exclusively Live's internal plug-ins, NIO Audio interface, PEAK midi footswitcher, Digitech guitar multi FX pedal (including an octaver for the bass sound), Wah pedal, Novation Launchpad, Korg ...

Re: Good FX racks in SUITE 8 to run my electric guitar through?

Amp sim software eh? I recently demo'd this http://www.vandalamps.com/en/# and was mightily impressed with the drive and hi-gain sounds and particularly the mic and cabinet modelling. 1. Sound fantastic and responds like a real amp to playing dynamics 2. Uses a serial number - No dongle (a dongle is...

Re: talking about technology is important, but....

why does almost nobody on the net talks about what makes music good or what is good about certain tracks etc.? I mean I don't say technology is overrated (ok it is...) and now just take a piano and make music, but it's big mismatch. It should be at least 80/20 or something. I totally agree, major m...

Re: Are you using the zoom function in L8?

Thanks for the reminder, after raving about it when it was introduced, I'd totally forgotten about it. I've been cussing to myself recently about having to use the scroll bar because my project has more tracks than usual... It really should be on the main window as a small slider or pot which can th...

Re: 4.1.4:clip recording delete not functioning properly

Hello Christian, thanks for the reply. we have now Looper and Max 4 Live, both releasing great powers to the party of looping loopers I posted: " without going via Bomes or a 3rd party app - and that includes M4L " Hmm, not too keen on Looper myself. I found it to be unstable - certainly w...

quandry wrote: Sure max and the looper are cool and all, but I still find the one-track-per-loop (ie if I want 8 loops I create 8 tracks in Live) approach, as it offers the most in terms of flexibility and routing/effects
Agreed 100%

Re: 4.1.4:clip recording delete not functioning properly

Did they ever get this fixed? (without going via Bomes or a 3rd party app - and that includes M4L btw) I'm live looping with Live 8.1 and all works great apart from being able to delete a fluffed loop. At present, if I fluff a loop, I have to reach over and hit delete from my querty keyboard. Cheers...

Re: Solid State Drive vs 7200 rpm

the stage was right next to some huge slamming sub cabinets, and the whole stage was vibrating, I kept getting read/write errors which kept throwing synch out of line, and the whole thing crashed twice. It was my biggest nightmare. Ended up being able to finish the set by sitting my mac on a pillow...

Re: How Can I... ?

Thanks for the comprehensive reply oddstep, it's appreciated. if you don't have any patience/time for learning for python... Nail on head. Not sure I have the inclination either. I'm more a musician than a programmer - which is how I like it. I believe that for me, Max4Live would also just end up be...

Re: How Can I... ?

can't you just strip away the clips/instruments/fx that you don't want and then save that as your template? Hmm, I'm not sure you understand what I want to do. I want to insert my new (complex) midi mapping scheme into existing Live sets and projects that I have already started. IOW retroactively. ...

+ 1 on the clip delete function - mainly for live looping.

It's been bugging me for ages...
