Are you using a laptop or desktop? I'm using the RME Multiface which has very good sound quality 8ins 8outs and midi, spdif, etc. Works great with Live.

RME Multiface around $800 or less depending where you look. Very good quality, all the interfaces you need, Highly recommended. I'm looking at getting the fireface 800 next. 24Bit 192hz support, that thing is a beast, it's based on the multiface.

Just remember these settings aren't magic still use your ears and experience to get the type of sounds you want. This is just a general starting point or reference but by all means this isn't a rule to use these settings for those instruments all the time. Good stuff though thanks fellas!

Just my two cents, mp3 support for Ableton should not be an issue, keep it clean and just use AIFF or WAV. Let Acid and those other software programs deal with MP3s I don't hate the format but I just like Ableton so much I don't want to hear these cats chopping up MP3s and making more shit for music...
