Re: Sub Poll

Nope, Sub in an un-treated room is bad news. +1 Im not fan even in well treated small rooms. Also calibration to get the crossover point/levels with your monitor 100% is a pain. Chances are if you cant hear the bass on a normal pair of nearfields its because of acoustic issues, look at bass traps b...

Re: best online storage for song files etc ?

I love dropbox, its really great for colabs too. Collect and save and its like your both working on the same machine anywhere in the world. The other cool thing is it saves version / deleted files. So if you accidently delete a nice little sequence in your project and dont relaise until a week after...

Re: What headphones do you use?

Yes its terrible I know (worst of any DSP video) and I am reminded regularly. Thats why I put a warning in my post here, on the website, an apologie in the video that is then echo'd again and again in the comments. I was trying a new mic and we where going to use a treated studio room but a paying c...

Re: What will compliment an APC40 better? APC20 or Launchpad?

like to work on both production and DJing in transit Well if you want to work in transit then go LaunchPad as its bus powered and the APC20 isnt (So you need a mains power point to use it). After using both units for awhile I came up with this summary: http://thedspproject.com/apc20-vs-launchpad Ho...

Re: AKAI MINIAK your opinion

I dont know about the MINIAK I did a review on it:
http://thedspproject.com/akai-miniak-review

The little screen is a bit crap and hard to read and having no USB is also a bit crap but I guess that all depends on how your going to use it.

APC20 demo video + Win KJ Sawka sick drumloop sample pack

Hey guys, As part of this weeks APC20 jam episode Loopmasters has let give away my favorite sample pack in their collection. Its a set of sweet drum loops by ninja drummer by KJ Sawka. (In my opinion far more useful then the pack he did for ableton as they arent all covered in fx so you have the raw...

Re: Kick Layering tutorial (video)

You are correct that you shouldn't cut things out then try to boost them back in... but on the snare tut I put an eq8 on the master section to roll off the sub frequencies, and dip 500hz to make room for the rest of the mix. I didn't boost any frequencies with it. I did however use a Pultec EQP-1A e...

Re: Snare Layering tutorial (video)

Thanks, after alot of questions about kick layering and phase I am going to cover just that in next weeks episode so stay tuned... As for a limiter, I didn't use one. I used a clipper its a bit different (might cover this in the future too), hopefully phase will be a bit clearer after the next episo...

I like how the APC40 dances to the trumpet. This is functionality I have wanted for a long time now.

Good work.

Re: Snare Layering tutorial (video)

You need to be very careful when layering kicks as the lower your fundamental frequency the more chance you have of running into phasing issues. For this I would recommend sticking to two only two layers for your kicks and eq'n them aggressively to ensure the bass layer has its own space (mine norma...
