Re: Ableton! Will Live 9 be released before year 2015?
Mere semantics. having freedom of speech means exactly that if you think it's wrong maybe your on the wrong road to truth pal, mind you logic and truth have never been directly compatible as experience and the expression of experience are two different things if you wish to get into a philosophical...

i reserve my right to use any fucking word i like to express any fucking feeling i have toward any fucking software developer i choose. here endith the lesson on free speech. Just because it's your right to say X doesn't mean that it's right to say X. Just because it is your right to say whatever y...

Re: looper and uses of
Lower the feedback parameter. At 100% recorded material will be the same volume every time it repeats, at 50% the material will be half as loud each time it repeats. So, if you set Looper up to record one bar and then play a 4 bar melody into it with 50% feedback you'll end up with 4 bars of output ...

Re: Apple $29 Thunderbolt > FireWire adapter lives!
Well, it works. Just tried the adapter with my Duet (v1) and it installed flawlessly and is working without a hitch so far. It isn't particularly stable at low latencies (anything below a 200 sample rate tends to get glitchy) but that may be the case even if the machine has a true Firewire port -- I...

It has less than Firewire but still double that of USB 3.dazzer wrote:So TB doesn't provide enough wattage to bus power? Really?

Re: Recommend audio midi interface for new macbook pro (retina)
Yeah, the adapter was just released a couple of days ago. Not heard of anyone who's tried it with an audio interface yet though. It's also worth noting that Apple's adapter is FW800 not 400, which is a pain since most audio interfaces have 400.

Yikes, yeah. I'm not holding my breath for my Apogee Duet to work properly. Will give it a go though.dazzer wrote:So for most audio interfaces with FW400, all we need to do is use a 400 to 800 adaptor plus an 800 to TB adaptor.

Re: Portable Battery-Powered Busking PA Suggestions?
A lot of those little battery powered guitar amps have aux inputs that bypass the amp modelling for playing backing tracks, etc. Can't be beaten for portability, I'm sure.

Re: Live 9 Speculation?
for fucks sake, no. should there be an apostrophe on "fucks"? I assume that this phrase is a secular variation on "oh, for god's sake", which suggests it should be "oh, for fuck's sake", with fuck replacing god (as it has done for so many lapsed Catholics). But ...

Re: Sampled analogue warmth vs the real thing?
The main thing that can't be done digitally yet is distortion or saturation Agreed 100%. Next thing I want Urs Heckmann to work on is a distortion/overdrive plug - I think he could nail it. Yeah, that'd be great. His Uhbik bundle contains Runciter, which does distortion but it isn't even vaguely an...

Re: Sampled analogue warmth vs the real thing?
The main thing that can't be done digitally yet is distortion or saturation. Everything else is getting pretty close. I've heard good emulations of clean analog filters but not overdriven filters.
