Virtualization - Performance Test?

Is there anyone who has downloaded the Parallel beta for running XP virtually on an IntelMac who has tried the performance test? Very curious here.

MBox on an iBook w/ Live

The MBox should work as an audio interface with programs other than ProTools right? It doesn't show up in the audio preferences on my old iBook.

Any suggestions?

Digi - I guess my view of it being overblown is the million threads about it on the Apple forums. I honestly can't hear it in a room with any amount of ambient noise. It does exist. I am not denying that. But the widget trick is so simple. As far as it taking battery life, since you turn the widget ...

I went with the MacBook because I didn't have that many AU's and can wait for Universals. However, it sounds like you have quite a stable of things, so the G5 might be the way to go...especially since there are places trying to unload them. Guitar Center had an open box iMac G5 1.8 for $719 a couple...

I have had my MacBook Pro for 2 weeks now. No problems. The whine thing is very overblown. I can only hear something when I am using the battery and then only when there is no noise in the room at all. The little widget trick works just fine. The MOTU Ultralite is the perfect companion. The shit wor...

Not to pile on here, but I think you should re-investigate your current set-up. I was running Live in a live situation, looping live instruments and dropping in loops, with my iBook 933 just fine.

So, just adding another voice to the "your computer should work" chorus! :)

I have synced a couple macs up via ethernet but can't seem to get them to connect via a computer-to-computer network with Airport. I always get a "connection refused" message. I have looked all over and can't seem to get a resolution.

Any suggestions?

Well, speaking as someone who has the Presonus Firepod also, I would go with the Ultralite.

I finally had a chance to set up my UltraLite and have a full rehearsal...and this little thing is the best purchase I have made in a LONG time...(with the exception of the MacBook Pro I bought last week). This thing puts other audio interfaces I have worked with (Presonus, M-Audio) to shame! I can'...
