Re: Create a kickass Kick with Operator, and forget about samples
I'm about half way through this tutorial and like where it's going! But I can't for the life of me highlight the Operator and the EQ8 so that I can group them - anyone have any idea why this might be? If I highlight the drum rack I can also highlight the EQ8 but that's not how it's done in the video...

Re: Looping 8 bars crackle pop at start
I'm also experiencing this in Session view playing Operator via an 8 bar MIDI loop - big, crunchy, poppy crackle at the start of each 8 bars (other than the first time the clip is triggered). As a workaround I can split the MIDI loop into two four bar loops set to follow next/previous and the pop go...

ME_BCR2000 - a simple easy way to set up a BCR2000 with Live
Last night, after having a pig of a time setting up a BCR2000 for use with Live last week (I'm pretty novice when it comes to setting up anything other than a MIDI keyboard), I discovered nativeKONTROL's ME_BCR2000. It makes it SO easy and intuitive to customise the BCR2000 in exactly the way I want...

By 'workaround' I don't know if you mean something more elaborate, but you can resize the track a touch and the plugin name will appear...

Re: Apple Loops in Ableton?
I use AudioFinder ( http://www.icedaudio.com/ ) to organise my sample library and, where required, convert caf files to wavs for use in Live. It can also do batch conversions if you want, although all the conversions obviously come at the cost of hard drive space being guzzled up.

Re: KRK Rokit RP8 G2 vs Yamaha HS80M What i should use in studio
I went undertook a very similar decision recently and went with the Yamahas. I'd really recommend searching for threads about these speakers over on gearslutz.com - you'll find absolutely loads of opinions and recommendations. It'd also be wise, if possible, to get yourself to a retailer where you c...

Re: Do you get tired of your songs when working on them?
There was a similar thread to this on the Dogs on Acid Grid forum recently, which had a link to this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=XVQ8c19unnM It's the first chapter of an Ill Methodology workshop and as I too suffer from losing my way when I'm working on tunes I gave t...

Re: How to clean up Guitar hum
If you've nailed some recordings and the hum isn't causing you a problem where you're playing you could try gating the audio so that you get that silence you're after between notes.

Re: reducing the harsh metalic sound of hi-hats
Notch EQ on the harsher frequencies? (Sweep with narrow Q boost to find culprit)
Increase the attack time / volume fade in if using audio rather than MIDI?
Compress with fast attack and longer release to bring out the splashy tails?
What genres of music are you primarily working on?

Re: Never apologize for your art & don't listen to your audience
Nice work and well worth the read :) I sometimes wonder how much great music is being made by artists whose work I'll never get to hear because labels won't (/can't) take the risk putting it out. This is why I think Soundcloud is so super awesome ;D If only I had time to invest in digging through S...
