Re: Here's how Apple is a rapist

I bought the base model MBP, upgraded to 4GB RAM and put a 500GB WD HDD in it, all for less than 150€ and with spare hardware (old HDD and RAM).

Haters gonna hate.

Re: Best way to remix a song.

no. i made a point that it is not always the goal to make a perfect production track. maybe it's just a suprise track for one evening, and you quickly mash something up. no need to pay 100ts to mastering studios to get it perfect. tons of other cases exist. eels never mastered anything, but was wit...

Re: Desktop Speakers

http://www.gradolabs.com/09_images/sr60i.png Grado SR60i for 130€ are incredible for the price, SR80i cost slightly more and are even better. If you’re looking for rugged headphones that you’ll also be able to use for DJing get Sennheiser HD25-IIs also around ~150€. If you’re looking for something ...

Re: noob question. Drum Rack / Impulse?

What I'm curious about is, does Impulse do anything that a drum rack doesn't do better? Impulse is a lot easier to set up than a drum rack. It’s great for putting down a musical idea quickly using a basic drum set, even with the computer alphanumerical keyboard alone. My guess is also that it’s a l...

Re: The iPad/iPhone/iPod Touch Resource Thread

Akai just upgraded SynthStation to version 1.21 and all complaints I previously had are pretty much gone now. 8) They upgraded the resolution to make it compatible with iPhone 4 and iPad (much prettier on those). And, more importantly, they made the whole interface a lot snappier. I was especially a...

Re: controlling ableton with my bass guitar for dubstep wobble

Hey everyone, I want to try and play a live wobble on my bass guitar, I was thinking I could play my bass through ableton to achieve this. First, does anyone know the method fro controlling ableton with a guitar? I guess I would need a midi pickup of some sort.... There are audio to MIDI interfaces...

Re: Storing samples on an external hard drive

Do you think it would be better to replace the internal drive on the Mac with a 7200 hard drive and use the external drive for back ups? ( I do have another external drive but think that would be a bit fiddly having two external drives). Have been looking at a samsung 1tb one for under £50. I chang...

Re: Storing samples on an external hard drive

I don’t have the exact figures but USB 2.0 is pretty fast. It takes not more time to transfer files from one of my internal HDDs to another than from one of my internal HDDs to my external HDD so I guess the drive speed is the bottleneck here.

Especially considering that laptop HDDs are even slower.

Re: Storing samples on an external hard drive

I've recently installed Live 8 suite onto my macbook and was wondering if storing my own sample library on an external hard drive will be a problem. I've only got 50gb left on my macbook so I dont know whether this is a good idea as the sample library is likely to grow. Lives library has been insta...

davepermen wrote:what? to tune your guitar, or what? if so, use spectrum. works so far :)
While this would work in theory, learning the exact frequencies of each string by heart, watching for peaks with lots of harmonics/noise wouldn’t be exactly practical.

Re: Komplete 7 worth buying?

Quick thread hijack: Would you rather: Live + Komplete or Live Suite? I’m still using Live Intro right now and most thing in suite at least are very redundant with Komplete so Suite + Komplete is probably overkill. I am also a guitarist so Guitar Rig might come in handy (more so than AMP). Still, is...

Re: Does Amp have a tuner?

Live is all about simplicity. Sure they could add a tuner, a shiny interface based on real life pictures of the actual modeled amps and a little window with a bobble-head Elvis thrusting his hips to your music but they didn’t on purpose. They made a sleek minimalistic interface like everything else ...

Re: Post your set up and your sexy cat...

Been slowing building up my studio, and now I'm really happy with it. Pictures are kind of crappy quality (iPhone camera)... http://dl.dropbox.com/u/38077/setup1.jpg http://dl.dropbox.com/u/38077/setup2.jpg That’s kind of what I have in mind. No fuss, just the essential stuff and Ableton + Komplete...
