They may just be hidden. Have you tried to "unhide" the group by clicking on the little triangle or dragging the track separator line to expose the contents?

I also suspect that you won't be able to render midi notes from your VST directly to wav. I get something similar with the Virus VST. The issue is when you render to wav, the midi notes don't actually translate to audio. The work-around is to record the midi to audio and then render it down to wav. ...
