ok...so it took me several days to find this...i'm not sure if i originaly found this link through this forum or not, but if you want custom midi/knob/slider/button boxes, this seems to be the best site, at least that i've found. enough yammerin'.

there is a freeware live video mashing tool at http://www.image-ine.org. it's for os9, but i think they have an osx version being developed.

what you can do, is render only the amount of the clip to disk that you want to disk, then just delete the old file.

it doesn't test absolutes, but it does give you an idea about what sort of performance you're gonna get out of different machines and os's. when i comes to exacts, it really depends on a pooload of different factors, too many to really come up with anything usefull. the demo test is about as good an...

check out http://www.resolume.com. they have some video software that seems the equivalent to live. pc only (i think).

it's got my vote. damn, imagine how cool, like, version 6 of live will be when all the suggestions posted and new stuff ableton hasn't even thought up yet is implemented. if you're ever depressed, think about how fuckin' cool live will be in 5 years if it's this cool now, it's like insta-happiness. k

i suggest using the freeware 'rubytube' limiter to keep your levels sane when feedbacking stuff. that way you don't need to be that careful with your balancing.
