I use a 410 on a 1.5 PB, 1 gig RAM, 10.3.9 and it works fine, never updated the drivers, never fiddled with latency settings. Just had a look at my settings now and they are set at output 10, input 8. Not sure if I could make them any better, as I said, I've never changed anything. Could this be a d...

I basicallyupgraded from Delta before I played with it much, so the answers I'm gonna give are guesses, I'm afraid...

you can use it fine with only the internal soundcard connected and that as it doesn't have midi or vst, that it wouldn't have rewire.

FWIW.

I bought a 410, that started me out on Live. Version that came with it was Live Delta 2.1. I can't tell you if what you would get is the same version. I upgraded it to Live 4 for $299 about 4 months ago. Live Delta 2.1 has a 10 track and 5 scene limit (quite frustrating), fewer effects, no midi. But...

Sad fact is that some peeps on this forum do seem a little trigger happy when slagging off others (the spam post a few weeks back seemed to bring out the worst sides of a lot of people). Name calling on the Internet really has gotta be one of the most futile things to do. Anyway, although I don't po...

Ooops, didn't mean to imply that you switched specifically for working with Live.

Just a small note about PowerBooks (I don't know anything about PCLappys). It was pointed out that 1 explanation for the high CPU usage in Macs was with 1 of Ableton's built in effects (the reverb? I don't remember) and if an AU effect was used instead, the CPU usage dropped dramatically. Also, it h...

Thanks to everyone for all the posts, I really feel I've learnt something and now think the best idea is to buy a HD with both USB and FW so I can play around. Must say though, i'm gonna have to read up a bit on the spec of my PB, this whole "2 ports on 1 bus" is a bit confusing! I'm sure ...

Two more questions while we're on this topic then.... 1- So even though my Powerbook 15" has TWO FW ports (FW400 and FW800) they share ONE bus, and this leads to problems with FW audio cards.;...right? 2 - If I use a USB drive instead of a FW one to get round this problem, do I get inferior per...

Thanks for all the replies (awake now here in Hong Kong) That's interesting about the Powerbook (which I use) having 2 ports but only 1 FW bus (even though one is FW400 and the other is FW800?) I haven't got a FW HD yet and now it seems if I DO buy one, it'll be a bit of an experiment if it works or...

fw410 and fw hard drive - am I right in thinking...

...that when M Audio say "do not network over firewire and use fw audio interfaces simultaneously" this means that I can't use a fw hard drive with my fw410? what a downer. or am i wrong...?

I too was wondering whether I need to wait. For example, my m-audio fw410 runs fine, but will it work with tiger, do I need to wait for specific 10.4 drivers?
