Re: EQing out frequencies VS filtering them?
If I use a high pass filter at 150 hz for a snare drum, should I also cut out everything below 150 on the EQ? Highpass is the same as Lowcut, its just two names for the same thing and it will cut everyting below 150 Hz, depending on steepness and stuff. You CAN of course cut again with the EQ, the ...

Re: Room Treatment
I am not sure what the unit "dB re 1 V/Pa" means. Why dont you use Spectrum inside Live? White noise will be suitable, when you want to record the signal with your microfone. If you want to do it by hearing, I suggest the sine sweep, as the problematic frequencies will be (partially) maske...

Re: Room Treatment
A good way to get an idea about resonating frequencies is listening to a sine sweeping slowly up or down the spectrum. This makes it also possible to pin down the frequency very exatactly. However, it depends on you rears and speakers and so on, but you coul'd anyway record the signal with your micr...

Re: Operating in 192k
Wouldn't 88.2 make more sense for audio tracks if the end result is 44.1? Indeed, thats something I also wondered. I think 88.2 kHz is pretty much the best way to go! As 96 kHz is even (unnecessarily) higher and IN THEORY downsampling to 44,1 kHz will be smoother (I have no idea of downsampling alg...

Re: Operating in 192k
OK, lets talk in absolute limits: CDs have a samplerate of 44.1 kHz. That gives you a maximum of 22.05 kHz achievable frequency response (according to Nyquist). Pitching it down results in a lower frequency range, because you also pitch the maximum frequency down. The calculation here is more comple...

Re: Operating in 192k
My Genelecs has max 18kHz output. So is the only benefit of higher kHz that you just add frequencies abowe the range of what humans can hear, and most monitors can output? NO , that would be stupid of course, as mentioned before. I find it rather shocking, that the main reason for higher samplerate...

#1 a better and more flexible way to ZOOM in and out. Like logic's awesome zoom tools (both the "zoom in on selection" and the magnifying tool). I literally hate doing micro-editing in live and it's the only reason that I've still got logic lying on my mac. As long as they do not change t...

Re: Collision: Can it synthesize snare- and bassdrum etc...
BTW As the basic physics are already there (and as I understood, Collision does its job quite good), would'nt it be easy for Ableton to build a drumsynth upon these techniques? Between Operator, Collision, Analog and Drum racks... I see no real need for a drum synth. I rather like Live's modular ap...

Hmm thats what I expected. Drumaxx looks good, I did not know that one before. I will check in out in the evening. Also MacGuffin s file. Thanks so far for your replies. Collision: Can it synthesize snare- and bassdrum etc...
Hi there Collision Users! Although I understand, that Collision is mainly for melodic and exotic percussion (is that right).I asked myself how far the physical modeling goes? As it can simulate a membrane and someting hitting it, can it synthesize regular drums like bassdrum, snaredrum and maybe tom...

Re: Matching EQ question
Some thoughts, that might be wrong (never used this method): I think the difference of keys in frequencies is not high enough to cause big trouble in EQing. Unless you are dealing with some resonating harmonics. And these are usually not apparend in finished mixes, where you get your EQ-samples from...

Phoscyon: Best sound but inconvenient GUI.
ABL2: Sounds also good, has good GUI, but is also more expensive.
Forget about samples if you want the truth (ok if you want the truth, get the original or at least a x0xb0x).

Re: How about a better forum?
I don't think ableton need to dedicate resources to answering questions on the forum. They would be better off using those resources as moderators. The problem I've always had lurking on this forum is that it's noisy. If someone posts "URGENT PLZ HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" in the tips and...

So, florin92vl, we need more information to help you. And by the way: Next time, choose a more specific thread title. More people will look inside it, when the title is not just "problem". Actually everybody has problems here! Describe it in few words. You were lucky, that I had a good da...

No it wont be possible in live.
Maybe there is a freeware software that does the trick. Just search for a "declipper". If you find one, post it here, please.
