Re: PORTLANDIA...if you are having trouble finding a PUSH
If I wasn't about to drop 3x the price of a Push on a new DJ mixer after recently buying a new MBP and Live 9 I'd be all over it.

Understanding the Live 9 (and older) M4L plugins
Most of the M4L devices have fairly weak inline help via the Info Pane and those that do often don't help much with what the devices and controls actually do. Is there any documentation on these devices anywhere?

Re: Where are the IRs ?:)
OP don't look in Max4Live in Categories, look in the Max4LiveEssentials pack in Packs, in Places and you can see the folder with the IRs The IR's do not load into the effect, even when you drag them onto the effect manually. But that's only one problem. There are two places with presets for the Con...

Both your original question and your follow up questions to footy indicate that you should really spend some time going through the buit-in tutorials accessible through the help menu.

How long are you letting the pinwheel spin? Some of the packs take a while to install.

Re: Push Chord Patterns
Push's key layout is what's known as an isomorphic layout. In that respect Push is nothing new. What Push offers is a combination of features tailored to electronic music production with Live, of which the isomorphic note layout is just one. Ever looked at the buttons on an accordion? Isomorphic key...

Re: Have "Audio From" default to my choice?
How about making a template which you use to start a new project, and save that one as default ??? If you use always the same things, this would be the best solution. Yes, that will get you your starting tracks for new projects defaulting to whatever you want but doesn't help with any new au...

Re: Syncing strings in 4/4 time at 174bpm
Turn off makeup and bring down the threshold on the compressor until you're getting ~6dbs of compression. Then turn up the volume on the compressor 6db. If you're tweaking to 6db compression and then pushing the output up 6db how is that any different from leaving the makeup gain on and not manuall...

Re: Global (un)solo button
Hi, funken. I do sound design for video. (and I'm a shortcut fanatic). Several tracks with lots of sounds. And when I have to listen to a particular sound, to edit or do whatever with it, I need to solo its track. Perfect. But I have to do this a hundred of times in a day. I maybe look like I'm laz...

Re: Learning to DJ
Traditional beat matching style DJing is not just for playing out for crowds. It's also hella fun. What's more, it takes a while to get down pat and the time spent with that is also time spent learning different ways of mixing tracks (in the full track sense), which then easily applies to mix downs ...

Re: what s the reason for removing stop buttons in a scene?
Stability has nothing to do with it. The reason to remove the stop buttons in a clips in a scene is so that if there is a clip playing on the track in another scene said clip won't stop when you launch the scene with the removed stop button.

Re: The death of the DJ
Beat matching the end of one track to the beginning of another is one small step above stopping one and starting another. Beat matching so you can mix and manipulate elements of the tracks to make something more interesting is a skill that also requires knowing your music well. I'm not even talking...

Re: The death of the DJ
I've been DJing for 15 years now and I can't really see this changing much. If you're going to skimp on learning to properly beatmatch it will show, regardless of what equipment you're using, and there have been cheaper options for doing that than CDJs for years now.
