Re: Macbook Air 2012 i5 vs 2013 i7 - no CPU meter difference
Unless you're testing the systems to failure (i.e. adding tracks with plugins inserted on them until the system craps out) and scoring them by the amount of stuff they can run, things will often look like the systems are "the same" CPU-wise even if they aren't. Yes, I understand this. But...

Re: Macbook Air 2012 i5 vs 2013 i7 - no CPU meter difference
For what it's worth, here's a Geekbench comparison of a 2013 and 2012 Macbook Air: http://browser.primatelabs.com/geekbench2/compare/2067488/2067439 Notice the i5 2012 doing better in some tests than the 2013 i7. Though with my tests, the 2013 i7 comes out ahead in every test, usually by a significa...

Re: Macbook Air 2012 i5 vs 2013 i7 - no CPU meter difference
Guillermo,
I think I agree with what you wrote. It's just that the Geekbench scores were so much higher, that I assumed some (most) of this was due to raw CPU capability.
And you're happy with the appearance of Live on the Retina?

Re: Macbook Air 2012 i5 vs 2013 i7 - no CPU meter difference
I did more testing with a set with a bunch of tracks/plugins and an instance of Amplitube 3. I'm using a Komplete Audio 6 interface. The 2012 i5 Macbook Air performs better (at least with my test set) than the 2013 i7 ("haswell") Macbook Air. I could actually get down to a 32 sample buffer...

Re: Macbook Air 2012 i5 vs 2013 i7 - no CPU meter difference
I don't see much reason to get a MPB over a Macbook Air for music production. And I've read a lot of grumblings about how Live looks worse on a Retina display than non-Retina. By the way, if you read the thread that I put in my original post, it looks like there may be advantages to the i7 over the ...

Macbook Air 2012 i5 vs 2013 i7 - no CPU meter difference
I figured I'd post this, since someone might find it useful. I bought a 2013 Macbook Air with a 1.7 GHz i7 "Haswell" processor, and compared it to a 2012 Air with a 1.7 GHz i5. They both have 8 GB or RAM. The Geekbench scores of these two machines are pretty far apart (in the 7000 range fo...

Automate return or master tracks in session view?
I saw this post in the Ableton Answer base, https://www.ableton.com/answers/how-can-i-automate-return-or-master-tracks-in-session-view. Method one sort of works, but introduces weird phase issues. Method two is not clear to me. Has anyone figured out a way to automate the effects in a return track i...

Max effect like EHX Freeze sound retainer pedal?
Hello. Does anyone know of a M4L effect that can do something akin to what the Electro Harmonix Freeze pedal does? The Freeze pedal captures an instant of music and loops it, much like an audio sustain pedal. It's a very cool effect.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Live delays: a way to make sync'd 32nd notes?
Can anyone think of a way to make Ableton's Simple Delay or Filter Delay have 32nd note values as the smallest "1" sync'd delay value?

tap tempo: option to not start transport after tapping
Most of the time I just want to tap the tempo without having the transport start - like pretapping the tempo. Right now, I have to tap the tempo, then stop the transport. It seems like this would be an easy option to implement.

1/64th and 1/32nd note values with Simple Delay/Filter Delay
It would be great if Ableton's delays had a x2 button to shorten the delay lengths of the 8 delay time values. I find myself wanting delays that are shorter than a 1/16th note, but still in sync with the BPM.

Output MIDI clock when Live's transport is stopped?
Hello. I'm trying to figure out a way to output MIDI clock even when Live's transport is stopped. Does anyone know if there's software that can be re-wired or connected via the IAC bus in OS X that can run in tandem with Live, and take whatever BPM live is set to (even with transport stopped) and ou...

Re: midi clock while transport is not active
Yes, +1. I could really use this feature with my setup, where I've got Live as the master clock for a few midi devices.
