Thanks for the answers guys. I'm just going to sample one of my plugins, rather than worry about NI suing me for releasing a free rack for ableton users.

Ultrabeat isnt worth $500 + tax imo. Replacing Live with Logic would have cut that price in half, but I think I could accomplish the same thing (or similar) by using FM8 or Operator, should I decide to buy it.

i'm in the same boat. I have some JBL encounters that I use. My mixes come out quite nicely with these, so I really cant justify purchasing monitors just yet. Or maybe i'm in denial as well.

battery 3 all the way. you can use the apple loop utility to slice up your loops, after which you can just drag into battery. battery will locate all of your slice points and map them across the matrix. dont waste your money on anything else.
