Re: EQ Eight's Frequencies Wrong??
Yamaha and Roland, for whatever reason, decided to use different octave numbers. I forget which is which, but one went for note 60 = C3 and the other for note 60 = C4. Don’t quote me on this, but I believe it was Yamaha who went with C3. The DX7, which was one of the early MIDI synths (I bought one...

Re: EQ Eight's Frequencies Wrong??
Sorry, by Core MIDI I meant the core MIDI specifications from the MMA, less the many supplements to the basic spec needed for specific (and often esoteric) purposes. Nothing whatsoever to do with Apple.
Also, I mistyped earlier… The traditional value for middle C is about 261.6 Hz, not 262.6

Re: EQ Eight's Frequencies Wrong??
Correct, the MIDI 2.0 spec simply points to the MIDI 1.0 spec for the meaning of, for example, pitch in Note On/Off messages. So no (new) help there. As for the Wikipedia entry, it is correct in what it says, but what it says only applies to General MIDI pitched instruments. I somehow doubt that ver...

Re: EQ Eight's Frequencies Wrong??
In case anyone is interested. I guess MIDI labels middle C as C3. For the record, MIDI does not label anything at all as C3. The MIDI specs (plural) say only that note 60 is ‘middle C’. The specs say nothing whatsoever about pitch/octave notation, nor even really what ‘middle C’ is—although there i...

I believe that is because PAM (Push-ArrangeMode) v2.0 is now the current version.

I am guessing that you want the Live 8 Legacy Pack, which you can find here:

It’s in the M4L Building Tools pack; and within that pack in Lesson Devices » Building Audio Delays.

Re: Is there any good book about Max For Live to recommend?
Cool, I hadn't seen that one, probably because it is clearly rather recent. I would still kinda wonder about performance with Python. I cannot imagine being able to do audio rate signals (i.e., MSP) with it. I also found this page which I hadn't noticed before on the Max website: https://cycling74.c...

Re: Is there any good book about Max For Live to recommend?
Lol… And if you haven’t yet really looked at Gen in Max, I strongly recommend doing so. For signal rate audio it is often far, far simpler to create what you want in Gen than to develop objects with the SDK. It even has GenExpr and the ‘codebox’ object, which are great for those of us who are perfec...

Re: Is there any good book about Max For Live to recommend?
First, and before I too forget, there is a great two-volume set of books about Max/MSP (as opposed to the Max for Live subsystem): Electronic Music and Sound Design . They are by same folk who are behind Amazing Noises, makers of some of the best Max for Live devices available. https://contemponet.c...

Re: Is there any good book about Max For Live to recommend?
you're in luck! max/msp is fun to sit and code with. my only gripe is that it doesn't use any transferable skills to my professional life because you can only encapsulate Java into max modules. (I might be off on the exact details, it's been a few years), I wish it worked with Python or at least C/...

Re: Is Ableton already working on a ARM version for new Macs to come?
I have no idea about software development… I do have some idea about software development. I have been developing digital audio software for nearly 40 years — since 1982 in fact, on *nix, Windows, macOS and occasionally my own real-time operating systems for embedded devices (plus a few other lesse...

Re: Is Ableton already working on a ARM version for new Macs to come?
does this mean two separate Live releases for Apple products instead of just one? that's where my argument lies. No, just one: universal binary . For macOS, that is. We can only hope that Ableton does not decide to do something daft and spend resources to develop some kind of dumbed down Live for i...

Re: Is Ableton already working on a ARM version for new Macs to come?
I wonder if Ableton is already working on a ARM version of Live Probably, yes. It is fair to say that Ableton developers, like developers everywhere, are (at least) talking about the coming ARM-based Macs. However, to get the Developer Transition Kit with an ARM A12Z processor, Apple is giving prio...
