Re: Priorities - software, monitors, controllers?
Thanks for the extra responses... Leeds, cheers for the input - I actually really dislike mixing on headphones for the reasons you mentioned, although I have been looking at some of the "monitor simulator" software you've talked about. And yeah, I always take my tunes everywhere and play t...

Re: Priorities - software, monitors, controllers?
Thanks for the replies, guys...food for thought! I kind of expected that monitors would be a strong contender, but as you've all pointed out, budget monitors may be a bit of a false economy. On the other hand, because I've only got a bedroom-studio type setup then some really good monitors might be ...

Priorities - software, monitors, controllers?
Just after a little bit of advice, as well as any general feedback regarding how some of you prioritise the things you need/want. I have a spare £150 (give or take), and with it I'm looking to get one of the following: - FCB1010 midi foot controller (I play guitar and like the idea of using it as pa...

Re: Export All Tracks Signal Path
Yeah, If you're computer is up to it, I don't see why you couldn't have a different "master chain" for each song, then just cycle through them - set each chain to a different value, so on song 1 you use path 1, then when you start up song 2 you cycle it to path 2 and everything in path 1 t...

Re: Export All Tracks Signal Path
Perhaps this is more work, but I thought I'd suggest it... You could export the performance versions of your tracks with no master effects at all, and then set up a rack on the master of your performance set with tweaked settings for each song which resemble the original processing...then just map t...

Re: Recroding "What You Hear" in Ableton Live
Hi, I'm not an expert by any means but are you recording directly from your sound card and is that where the audio out from Live is going? If so, turning the monitor setting of the channel you're recording to "Off" might fix the problem...otherwise you're playing what you're recording, and...

Re: Vocals & Sampling....
Not sure if it's exactly what you want, but RoVee is a free autotune thing that let's you meddle with formant and pitch. It has male-to-female and female-to-male presets...

Re: getting that drop
i opt for live run offs and edits of them .. performed builduos and breakdowns are usually way better than the block moving 0815 type.. Please elaborate, because it sounds like here you're answering the original question of how to make a really good build-up and drop by saying that the dj/producer ...

Re: getting that drop
only problem is that we have heard the huge reverb trick now around 20768 times Last time I checked it was closer to 31435 :) but like I said, in conjunction with other (maybe more original) tricks, and assuming your song is good enough anyway, it can definitely help. And if it's a trick you don't ...

Re: getting that drop
a nice thing that I read on here once, is to resample some audio of the very first little bit (like, half a second) of your drop. Put this on an audio track of it's own, add a huge amount of completely wet reverb (however long you want your build to be) and then a few other bits and pieces (phase, f...

Re: NI Rammfire - anybody tried it?
Rammsteins guitar tones have never really been considered "great" sounding, but they sound correct for the context of the band; "Bright and synthetic." In industrial circles at least, they've got some pretty well-respected tone. Bright and synthetic is kind of okay in my book, c...

Re: NI Rammfire - anybody tried it?
Cheers for the response, Russ - seems to make sense. I'm working with Live 7 atm so I haven't had a chance to try out Amp. From what I've read about it, I'm not in much of a hurry to get it tbh. I'm just looking for a good in-the-box high-gain guitar sound, to avoid the inconsistencies of putting mi...

NI Rammfire - anybody tried it?
Hi everyone...long time lurker, first time poster. I'll get straight to the point - has anyone here used Rammfire to any particular extent? I've searched for reviews online and they are few and far between... I'm toying with the idea of getting it through the Guitar Rig Player, because I've been pre...
