Don't like the looks of that myself. Looks more like an interface for games / DVD, not serious audio. I can't find any specs for it. To record on it, it'll need to have low latency (time lag between the computer and the ins and outs). Which usually means ASIO drivers. Decent sound quality is always ...

I agree, Ableton seemed to have mixed a trick with this one. And with the real-time warp engine, it wouldn't be that hard to apply user templates to the audio as well. Now, that ability would steam-roller over anything Cubase and Logic can do. To those of you who think we're being unfair to Ableton,...

Cheers
Cheers for the tips. I know recording it all real time is the only way to get any real expressivness and my request is really a big cheat. I do record some parts live (mainly guitar and bass, but I'd still like to know the theory behind it (if there is any). I can't believe there's such little infom...

Any resources for groove timing?
We've all probably noticed that Live has no functionality for user groove templates. This means that all those subtle timing irregularities that make music sound natural and interesting must be added manually. OK, I can live with that (until Ableton sort out this massive omission). But does anyone k...

I'm sorry, did you say equal prosessing speed? Yes, Macs are more efficient. I don't know the exact figures, something like a 1.8GHz G5 being roughly equivalent to a 3GHz Pentium 4. But don't quote me on that. There are lots of different chip variations (especially on the PC side- FSB speed, cache e...

Sorry to hear you got screwed Supstar. But at least if you're hearing your work everywhere, you must be doing something right. I think you have me confused with another guy up there. That would be me... Sorry Guys. Tough day at the coal face. Kabuki: I agree, DJ Shadow's set was bloody amazi...

Sorry to hear you got screwed Supstar. But at least if you're hearing your work everywhere, you must be doing something right. One thing bothers me: If DJing is so easy, and everyone and his dog is doing it, why do I hear so many crap DJs in bars and clubs? I'm talking technically, in choice of reco...

Another Plan
Isn't there a way to sync Live to a more conventional computer DJing program such as Traktor? If not, maybe there should be. As far I can tell, most people who are requesting MP3 support, want to be able to mix whole tracks from their collections. I don't think Live was really designed for this purp...

Group Track Folders
Well spotted. I'd missed that one.
However I still think Ableton could improve on this by allowing you to collapse the selected tracks into your group track, like a folder. As well as saving a lot of space on the mixer, you would also be able to launch the clips as a group.

Knackers
I was hoping some patronising git would point me in the direction of an undiscovered part of the manual. You've obviously got some experience, Stu. How easy do you find it with the mouse or up and down arrows? I'm still pretty new to this. I think what we'd need is a relative midi controlller which ...

CD mixer style "Nudge" and "Hold" buttons for beat matching
When using Live alongside decks, it would be very useful to have 2 keys for nudge and hold. Just like a CD mixer. Surely any DJ would need this feature. Please, someone tell me if this already exists, and I'm being too thick to find it. Seems too obvious for ableton to miss, really. The best I can d...
