Re: Multicore support needs a big overhaul

steko - thanks for trying out the same test. If it's OK can I give a few pointers to try and get a more valid comparison between our results? - Yep, plugin buffers were set to "As Audio Buffer" on my setup (512 samples). - CPU meter readouts are largely irrelevant here... the essence of this test is...

Re: Multicore support needs a big overhaul

Having more than 4 cores is useless for everything except 3D renders and complex encoding. The time to send the information to each 12 cores between the ram, HD and cpus will nil any of the 12 cores advantages. Even Adobe admit that 4 cores is the sweet spot for top speed. As for me, since I switch...

Re: Multicore support needs a big overhaul

xzusa8ky - do you have u-he ACE? If not, grab the demo and try my test... it should start giving you problems on the 17th track by my estimation.

Re: Multicore support needs a big overhaul

A couple points: - Yep, 70 instances of ACE in Reaper... if only Live had that level of multicore support!! - The Ableton CPU meter is incredibly erratic even when those 24 tracks are playing back smoothly in my test... it's even more erratic when the 25th track plays and the output becomes horribly...

Multicore support needs a big overhaul

Let me start by saying sorry - this kind of turned into a bit of a lengthy post... but I think it's an important issue. Lately I've been frustrated by the state of multicore support in Live. Basically, depending on the specific content of a project, it's often the case that projects with a puny numb...

Live & Lion: "list" view in open/save dialog boxes

In Lion, when using "list" view within open/save dialog boxes, Ableton gets the date format wrong. I've got my region format set for Australia, which uses a date format of "dd/mm/yyyy", and Ableton consistently uses a "mm/dd/yy" date format in "list" view in the open & save dialog boxes. Occurs in 8...

Re: 8.2.6 bug with UAD Lexicon 224 on Lion

I've recorded a video which demonstrates the issue: http://db.tt/wBhWZnjj In the video you can see: - Audio is being passed correctly to the audio interface initially - Creating an instance of the UAD Lexicon reverb suddenly results in audio not being passed at all to the audio interface (as shown b...

8.2.6 bug with UAD Lexicon 224 on Lion

I've been setting up Lion on my Mac Pro, and I've discovered a bug with the Lexicon 224 and Ableton 8.2.6. (My setup is OS X 10.7.2, Ableton 8.2.6, Prism Orpheus, 2 x UAD Quad running version 6.0) Whenever I put an instance of Lexicon 224 anywhere in a project (as an insert, as a send, even on a tot...

Re: Erroneous "cannot locate plugin" errors still occurring

It seems this bug is now becoming problematic... it never used to cause actual crashes when it occurred previously, but it definitely is... Whenever I open a project and this buggy behaviour is displayed, Live seems to have issues accessing the file system... whenever you perform a function that req...

Annoying GUI inconsistencies with Groups

- Renaming groups: when you rename a normal track which starts with the # character (to automatically insert the track number at the start of the track name), the # is preserved when you go to rename it... i.e. you aren't forced to retype the # character because it is assumed you want to keep it and...
