just for shits and giggles, i whipped up a size comparison, between the maschine, the push and a 15" macbook pro. Not all that much wider than the maschine, and not as tall...

Re: an idea for push
not having a push in front of me, but i wonder if you could do this by listening to the raw midi input from the push (might need to do this in m4l, not sure), then sending the raw note values out through an iac bus, and using that to control synth parameter values, while still sending out the scaled...

Re: Who has dared to follow their Ableton passion?
its all about finding balance between resources. Time is just as much a resource as money. Given that your current situation allows for more of the latter than the former, look to bring your life back in balance. Think in the short term, is it possible to take a sabbatical? Or work a reduced or comp...

Re: Ableton Push: Questions & Answers
^EXACTLY. There is going to be a wide open world of customization potential for this thing, dont get to hung up on how the default behaviour will play out, because there will be a variety of alternatives developed, using midi and m4l in user mode, as well as changes to the python scripts themselves....

Re: Ableton Push: Questions & Answers
thats bound to produce inconsistencies. The point of the step sequencer is to plot out a predictable sound in advance. What happens if you accidentally hit it too soft? If you want variation, play it by hand. Best of both worlds. And as i said, its something you can easily change yourself if you like.

Re: Ableton Push: Questions & Answers
thats the real benefit of the push, with user mode this sort of thing (variations on step sequencer functioning, for example) will be easy to develop yourself! (and remember you can always play the pads live, and have that velocity entered into the step sequencer). I think you could just fairly easi...

Re: any new faders from namm 13?
@102455, i was speaking of my own preferences, thank you. Midi faders an underappreciated midi performance tool, most, like those icon-global controllers, or the bcf2000, are inappropriate for quick maneuvers, or as bartend7 points out, too easy to break.

Re: PUSH // What does the gear send in user mode ? Answer here!
as a request, when you have the time, it would be great to get a list of the rgb values which correspond to the midi note input velocity. I very much look forward to using the button grid as a 7bit display ;D

Re: PUSH // What does the gear send in user mode ? Answer here!
thank you very much Julien! This is exactly what i had hoped for. I especially like that the touchstrip sends a 'touch on/off' note, this will make implementing scratch control using the strip much easier!

Re: any new faders from namm 13?
none of these are particularly good examples of a dedicated fader box. The faders are either poor quality or devoted to 'mixing desk' style of adjustment, rather than 'dj style' fader performance. If akai would make a simple line of 12 of the apc faders, much like the vestax faderboard, i would be g...

Re: any new faders from namm 13?
agreed, all i really want is a bank of faders, like a slimmed down midi only version of the vestax faderboard. Why has this space not been more explored?

Re: 8.2.2 just as buggy as ever
plenty of crashing still for me. Especially when quitting, but also some crashes when dragging clips around and onto samplers. I'm doing a lot of m4l work, so that certainly has had an effect. Hope to see 8.2.3 respond better...

Re: future of experiemental music on vinyl
the emerging business model is the multi-tiered release. Free mp3s, cheap lossless downloads, necessarily more expensive vinyl releases, and deluxe bonus packages with tshirts, vinyl and printed material. Vinyl has it's appeal because it gives your fans something tangible to purchase when they want ...
