Best part is... this laptop is less than $400 more than a PowerBook 17" with 2 Gig RAM.

Hmm. I have Western Digital drives in my desktop, and it's over 5 years old. Never a hint of a problem.

Good thing you don't need to worry about the data. I would freak if I lost a bunch of stuff on my drive.

If you can get Windows installed on the secondary drive, and then set the computer to boot from there.... you should be able to attempt to recover data on your main drive.
