So does that run in the background when you're in Live? Do you have to open it up before live or is it like a once installed it works kind of thing? Sounds like a very handy tip!

Shouldnt be too hard, get the audio file in to Live (record or drag in) to the arrange window, split the track up how you want & drag & drop them in to a sampler, Simpler or Battery or something like that....should work, you should be able to trigger them like you would a drumkit or any othe...

Check out the tread in Tips & Tricks (I think) about using the crossfader with fx, looks a pretty good way to mangle samples. The Ohmforce plugins are pretty extreme, nothing ever sounds the same after using that.

use a compressor?

I don't see why not but ive never tried it. Never really seen the point of using it with cubase...you can do it all in Live.

If I start a new live set in 24bit will i be able to use 16 bit samples in it? I mean will it convert these to 24bit or do i have to change all the bit rates of my samples separately?

I think firewire would definitely be better but its expensive & im sure you could use usb. Is it a driver problem? Are using asio drivers?
Sorry i dont know much about macs but ive never experienced that kind of thing when i have used the with music equipment.
