Launching whole sequences from pads?
i know this isn't exactly related to Ableton Live, but I'm hoping somebody on here might be able to give me some advice. I'm looking for a device which would allow me to fire off whole sequences by hitting pads... I think this is possible on higher level Akai MPC's - wondering if there are other pos...

Re: Exported song lacks clarity
I began my post with "to the OP:" to avoid a debate about the sound quality in Ableton. I can say with certainty that in my own ears, Ableton's summing is obviously subpar - the original poster obviously thinks so too. Assume this conversation is between the OP and myself. Its my opinion -...

Re: Exported song lacks clarity
to the OP: Mix in protools - that's sort of the standard, what most pros/semi-pros use, etc. More and more people are mixing in Logic these days too. I don't believe that the sound quality itself is better in Logic, but the features and editing capabilities are better - in the case where you want to...

Re: Exported song lacks clarity
I'm not trying to cause any controversy here, but I've experienced this many times - to the point where I've accepted this is as the situation, but summing in Live is weak at best. One of Ableton's largest overall weaknesses is summing and I guess its the cause of so many audio engine discussions. T...

Re: Recommend some new soft synths?
thanks for these suggestions! - some I already have or I'm at least familiar with - but I'm looking forward to checking out the rest! For years I was sticking to mostly hardware, so I still have much to learn with these soft synths! ...and yes, I was specifically looking for more recent releases. I ...

Re: WTF is 5th note?
I'm really digging on what a lot of people are saying on here! There's nothing wrong with NOT learning music theory and still trying to create music. To each his own. We shouldn't all take the same exact approach anyhow. I have to admit though, that it does bother me when I hear stated with a tone o...

Re: Recommend some new soft synths?
thanks for the quick responses! doing mainly dance/hip hop/some dancehall - I feel like there's room for almost anything as far as synths go these days. ...so I guess that's why I wasn't so specific. My goto synths lately have been Arturia collection, Sugarbytes Unique, FM8 - I'm really quite open t...

Re: WTF is 5th note?
Its good to see some actual "music" being talked on here. Who would have figured? knowing something about music is useful in making music... Why is it always with such apathy that such issues are brought up - or such questions are asked? like there's a disdain for the concept of knowing or...

sounds better previewed in browser? why?!
what I mean is, when I'm previewing sounds from my sample library in the browser, certain sounds are clearly better than when I drag them into a track (session view, but I don't think it really matters) - why is this?! anybody else experience this? by better I mean, with a snare or clap - the top is...

Re: MPC for live use.
Can some of you guys elaborate on how exactly you're integrating the MPC? I was using one for a bit, but it seemed to be insanely time consuming! I realize that it might have much to do with the fact that I don't "write" using the MPC - so preparing for live sets involved much transferring...

Re: novation launchpad for dj-ing
If you are planning to do much travelling/touring, you might regret the APC40 - Its big, bulky and heavy. If you're the sort of DJ who carries around a lot of hardware, then you won't mind. I prefer to travel as light as possible and if anybody does it for long enough, that seems to be the typical c...
