Please give me a way to launch a clip on a given beat of a bar -- 12-second audio example

https://soundcloud.com/andrew-koenig/pickup-beat This is a slight modification of a clip called Katrina-Intro BrushSizzle 87bpm that is part of the Session Drums Club factory pack. How do I make a single clip that gives me this audio on Live? I want to do three things that are currently impossible: ...

Re: What exactly is special about the User Library?

But wouldn't you want to include sounds in non-official packs in the Sounds category? I'm thinking that maybe the simplest rule of thumb is: "Put stuff in the user Library that you expect to use elsewhere." (BTW, I'm asking this question now because when the User Library first came out, Li...

What exactly is special about the User Library?

The Live manual does not describe the User Library folder in much detail. As far as I can see, it has four properties that other folders do not share: 1) Live creates five subfolders: Clips, Defaults, Grooves, Presets, and Samples. 2) It is intended to be the "normal" place to save stuff y...

Re: Places wheel in browser keeps spinning

After much investigation, I have found the following: When I launch Live (10.1.9), sometimes I get an endless spinning circle; other times I don't. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason behind it. In all cases, launching Live starts the indexer running, and the indexer takes a while to run; s...

Re: Places wheel in browser keeps spinning

It’s hard to see how the number of samples could be relevant: 1) I have two computers with Live installed and as close to identical configurations as I can manage. Both are running Windows 10. The endless spinning wheel problem happens almost all the time on one of them and never on the other. 2) Wh...

Re: Places wheel in browser keeps spinning

I have been able to reproduce the problem on a machine with no user-supplied content at all, just Ableton packs. The problem never occurs on one of my machines and often occurs on the other with identical content. When the problem is occurring, the index process is consuming essentially no cpu. The ...

My experience is that "computing space requirements" often takes a surprisingly long time, but at least in my case it has never failed to complete.

Re: Places wheel in browser keeps spinning

That’s what I’ve been doing. When I launch Live, it starts an indexing process that takes about 20% of the cpu, according to WIndows Task Manager. Eventually the process quiescent, dropping to less than 1% of the cpu. On one of my machines, the sircle sometimes stops spinning when this happens, but ...

Re: Places wheel in browser keeps spinning

I've been having the same problem on Windows. After much investigation, I believe that the indexer is actually finishing its work, but for some reason it is not successfully telling the Live GUI to withdraw the spinning wheel.

Re: Store external samples in User Library or not?

What about kits and instruments that use those samples? What I find is that when I get a library from somewhere, I can't put it in a random folder in Places and also have it find its samples correctly. If I load a preset, for example, it typically won't find the corresponding samples. I can locate t...

Store external samples in User Library or not?

Supppose you get a library of samples from somewhere--you bought them, or made a bunch of field recordings, or whatever. Of course you put them all in a folder so you can get at them. Do you put that folder in your User Library? It seems to me that the answer isn't obvious. If you do put them in you...

Re: Question about Chords and Classical Music

FWIW I just learned about a free iOS app from Yamaha called Chord Tracker, which claims to be able to listen to audio and figure out the chord progression. No idea how well it works.
