If Ableton for some reason added Linux, I'd hate to be in tech support. Just getting all the audio and device drivers to work under Linux, if even possible, would be a nightmare. +1 when i started djing with live i also tried to work with multyble clips per song, but i stopped it very qickly. more than one clip per song is just to much. and this cue-points should be midi-mapable for every single cue-point and two buttons per live-track for next-cue-point and previous-cue-poi...

Have you tried the "Pitch" section in the Grain Delay Audio Effect Device? yes, but like jekblad said, it's not clean. anyway i was happy when i found this effect, becaus befor i used the pitchshifter-delay of native instruments fm8. and fm8 is a bit to large for such a small job. in germ...

the idea is't a new synth. the idea is a le version of analog wich is also in the standard-version.
an i don't think, that this will cost much time.
they could take the analog and take out one ocsilator and a few other features.

now live has got a FREQUENCYshifter. but for a musical aspect a PITCHshifter would be more usefull. the frequencyshifter is also a nice effect, but you can't chage the pitch in semitones and this is what a pitchshifter would do. i think it's not necessary to make a complete new device. the frequency...

i think also with audio this wouldn't take much recources. but there should be an option to change the lenght of the retrospctive record in MB or to turn it completly off. so you can adjust it to you system.
