Re: Ableton Push and Maschine Studio (as VST)
I run Push2 alongside Maschine Mk2. I use Maschine exclusively as a drumsynth/sampler sequenced by Push2/Live. I don't use Maschine's internal sequencer at all these days. Maschine is loaded in a Live drumrack on Track#1 in Live. It receives MIDI from Push2/Live and outputs audio from the drumrack o...

Re: Complete novice wants to record folk music
IMO Ableton Live is probably not the best for recording and editing live instruments and vocals. Ableton Live is more focused on loop based, MIDI, sampling and groove production side of things. You'd be better off grabbing yourself a copy of 'Reaper' from http://www.reaper.fm/download.php Reaper has...

Re: Default Shuffle / Groove / Swing, whatever
I'm just getting into live and I thought for sure you could do this based on videos I watched but just realized those must have been videos of live 7! In fact I just bought an apc thinking I was going to be able to use an apc knob to change my entire set swing live in real time, which would be amaz...

Re: Global groove needs to come back for LIVE beat making!
a big phat +1 for default groove I've always programmed with quantize and swing% to achieve the groove I want. Never been interested in groove maps. However, having taken a closer inspection of the actual factory groove maps supplied with Live9 i've notice a lot of them are very inconsistent. For ex...

Re: How do you comp from multiple takes?
I'm hoping with L10 we might see a serious pro audio tracking, comping and edit set up with all the usual Ableton design and workflow innovation. Keeping my fingers crossed but not holding my breath.

How do you comp from multiple takes?
Just wondering what the best way is to comp from multiple takes in Live. Also, how do you deal with comping from multichannel takes?
Any tips, links to vids much appreciated

Re: Where is swing quantize?
It is not the same because by default a new clip will not have this groove selected. The magic of the old swing was that you could crank if and all your shit gets nice n' swung. I know ... but it's not hard to assign all your clips to this map ... then it functions just like the old V7 swing ... I ...

Re: Question about Live 9 PUSH MASCHINE workflow
@ Theo check out this script for Push (especially vids) ... on the face of it seems to do a lot Maschine/Komplete/LIVE integration

Re: Where is swing quantize?
I did not have the impression that the OP wanted a specific swing setting, but access to an extra swing function independent of Groove. these groove map settings (same as my post above) allow a variable amount of swing% to be dialed in via the 'Global Amount' (x% is variable ... it is not a map for...

Roger Linn on MPCs swing and quantize
Here's an excerpt from an interview with Roger Linn, inventor of quantize, swing (on drum sequencers) and MPCs ... and below, a link to the full interview. Informative reading ... and a bit of myth busting. "Attack Magazine: The main idea which prompted this discussion was a conversation we had...

Re: Grooves!
this is the only groove map I use. I get groovy results with it. It replicates standard 'global swing' as found in LIVE7. create a new groove map and enter these parameters, then name it (I've named mine Swing16-Global and I've also saved this to open with my template/default Live set so it's there ...

Re: Where is swing quantize?
@Sebastian ... oddly enough, the old school (Live7) global swing was ditched with the advent of the groove pool. Here's a simple way to recreate the Live7 global swing in the current version that works very well. It requires a small set up ... from then it can be saved as part of your default set te...

Re: Need help: NI Audio 8 DJ cpu spikes and audio dropouts
I recognise the spiking pattern. It's the same as I've seen happening on an NI interface I owned a few years back. I returned it for that reason having tried everything imaginable to cure it. Solution: moved to a different soundcard ... never had the problem again (with any other card). It's an NI/W...
