Re: Live Suite 8.4 final released
In https://www.ableton.com/en/articles/wha ... sion-live/ they wrote: "The 64-bit version of Live 8 will not support Max for Live or The Bridge.". But when I'm logged in I can select to download Max 4 Live 5.1.9 as MacOS 64Bit version. Unfortunately it doesn't work

Re: Live Suite 8.4 final released
Now that we have Live 8.4 (64bit) and Max4Live (64bit) I really need to think about if I should update to Live 9. :/

Try the "Collect All and Save" feature before sharing your project.

Re: Guide to determing CPU needs
An i5@2.6Ghz should be more than enough for the workflow you described.
Last year I made a song consisting 55 stereo tracks on a Thinkpad x201 (i5@2.53Ghz, SSD) with Live 8.

Re: Question about 64bit LIve and i7
32Bit means a address space of 2^32 (= 4294967296 Byte = 4194304 KB = 4096 MB = 4GB). 64Bit obviously 2^64 (= 16 000 000 000GB = 16EB). Enough to store a lot of samples :) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/64-bit_computing http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Exbibyte Am I Right in thinking I will not experience...

Re: Buffer size in Ableton
>I just switched my Driver Type to ASIO instead of MME/DirectX and my buffer size went down to 512 (cannot switch it) Try to change the buffer size with the slider in the ASIO4ALL window, not in Ableton Live. As far as I remember you can not change it in Live when you're using ASIO4ALL. A buffer siz...

Re: Transferring files from one computer to another - lost data.
You need to use the "collect and save" function of Live on your Acer notebook. It saves all files outside of your project inside your project. Afterwards you can simply zip your project folder and transfer it to your Mac. Extract it and your Mac should now be able to find every referred fi...

Re: Mountain Lion
Some months ago I ran some tests with the set taken of the performance thread. On my Macbook Pro early 2011 (i7 Quadcore, 2.2Ghz, 16GB RAM, 256GB SSD) Live 8 (32&64bit) performs much better on Snow Leopard than on Mountain Lion. I tested this with the integrated and two different Firewire soundc...

Re: Live 9 and humanize, similar to logic?
I often use the Humanizer Max for Live patch to add an random delay of midi notes. Its available in Live 8, when you have Max for Live, and in the Live 9 beta as well.

Germany:
Live 8 Suite + Max for Live => 199 Euro to Live 9 Suite
99 Euros would have been a no brainer, but 199 is much to heavy
Live 8 64 Bit + M4L 64Bit is all what I need.

Re: Size of the SSD affects ableton live performance?
Usually the bigger SSDs are faster. Most 128GB SSDs are much slower than their 256GB counterpart. I would suggest to read some SSD test before buying. I've got an Crucial C300 with 256GB in my Thinkpad which is supposed to be faster than the 128GB version. The same holds for the Crucial M4 version. ...

Re: Dual monitors or 1 big one?
I'm using a 32" TV in Full HD resolution (1920x1080) for Ableton Live on my Macbook Pro 17. I would prefer one really big screen (40") over two relativ small 22inch monitors.

Re: now that we have 64bit, how much RAM???
The size of RAM your computer can address depends on your type of CPU. My i5 540M for instance can only address 8GB.
