Re: Which OS and how to test?
last year i´ve also installed mac os x on my dell laptop. unfortunately the latency on os x sucks with my firewire soundcard. my latencies are much better under win. i´d ask in the NI forum what latencies you can expect with their usb soundcards before building a hackintosh system and installing os x.

Re: Ableton 8 slow for load sets...........
all conviction aside, the speed of the file browser is slow in 8. there should definitely be room for improvements related to lives file browser engine. btw vistas search function also is faster than the one from xp although there are many more files vista installs on your hd. does anyone run live o...

Re: AAAARRRRGGGHHHHH! MACBOOK DEAD?
sounds like a mechanical head problem. put your hd in a plastic bag and after that in a freezer. let your hd in the freezer for 12-15 hours. then install the drive, mount it again, hurry up and try to backup your important data.UKRuss wrote:It's clicking like a muthafunker...

Re: Audible clicks in Live 8
if it´s not bad dpc latencies (bad drivers / defective hardware) under windows causing your trouble, I bet it has something to do with the plug-in delay compensation (both with ableton native- and vst-plug-ins). I am experiencing some clicks in 8.0.4 also (which weren´t there in previous versions of...

the bedroom-producer thingie is mentioned in a german interview http://www.gruenderwettbewerb.de/infoservice/multimedia/video/cebit09_schumacher.flv/view i guess the target audience is the laptop musician. no more, no less. no reason to harp on about the synonym. most of us fall into that category. ...

Re: using more than one pc at a time
If you have wifi cards on the PCs you can try ipMidi from these guys: http://nerds.de Set up an adhoc wireless network to send midi over. the problem with most wlan interfaces is that they often have poorly written drivers, the deferred procedure calltimes under windows xp/vista therefore are very ...

Re: using more than one pc at a time
what i would do: midi sync all live machines like mikemc described above. every machine needs it´s own audio interface, btw. if you don´t want to use an external mixer to mix the sums of all 3 soundcards together and if the soundcards are equipped with digital connections (S/PDIF, AES/EBU), use them...
