Re: Desktop Mixer Advice

I am using the M-Audio Firewire Solo. Thanks for directing me to http://www.soundcraft.com Something tells me this is too good to be true... http://www.soundonsound.com/sos/jul04/articles/soundcraftcompact.htm for $200ish give or take. The review seems positive. They also have some in their Notebook...

Re: KORG padKONTROL or Native Instruments Maschine Mikro

starving student, if you had the $$ I'd say try to buy it now, great deals through vendors on the unit, free expansions and half price expansions/app until the end of tomorrow the 28th. As far as the pads, I wouldn't replace them, this Mikro seems stout. I like it as a piece of hardware over the pad...

Re: Desktop Mixer Advice

I wasn't looking for any brand in particular, they were just what I had found beginning my search. Mackie has 2 I looked at the 402-VLZ3 ($100) http://www.mackie.com/products/402vlz3/ & 802-VLZ3 ($185) http://www.mackie.com/products/802vlz3/ Alto had 1 I was interested in, the ZMX862 ($70) http:...

Desktop Mixer Advice

I'm looking for a 4-6 channel mixer under $150 hopefully under $100. I've looked at ALTO, Behringers, and Mackies today but am looking for some words of wisdom from a forum member instead of depending on aging reviews scattered across numerous sites. Here's the skinny; I'd like a mixer to run into m...

Re: KORG padKONTROL or Native Instruments Maschine Mikro

It doesn't have quite 10GB of sounds, it was about 7GB total install of Maschine and Komplete. It's so complex and deep I'm intimidated. Maschine Mikro is overwhelming. I like having my drum pads on crack as I refer to it now. It was an overkill purchase but as I warm up to it I'll feel it was a gre...

Re: Ableton Beginner Needs Controller Advice

So I have my studio assembled minus a few straggling wires. Final roll call ended up being: Maschine Mikro Kaossilator Pro MicroKORG APC40 Using a M-Audio FireWire Solo sound card I traded in the padKONTROL for the Maschine Mikro and am loving the decision. The value provided by the software, sound ...

Re: KORG padKONTROL or Native Instruments Maschine Mikro

Ryanmf, Thanks for coming back to clarify my misread, I was hoping too much about what standalone meant, though shortly after posting my thoughts here I read the FAQs at http://www.native-instruments.com/#/en/products/producer/maschine-mikro/?page=2918 "Q: Can MASCHINE MIKRO be used without a c...

Re: KORG padKONTROL or Native Instruments Maschine Mikro

I just found this on another site from MASCHINE's documentation "Need to freshen up an idea from your DAW? Open MASCHINE inside your project and sequence some beats. Got a good groove flowing in MASCHINE? Drag and drop sections, loops or full tracks directly into your DAW as either audio or MID...

Re: KORG padKONTROL or Native Instruments Maschine Mikro

I was still doing a lot more fiddling with settings than I would have liked. So you're feeling better about getting into new track creation with the Mikro as a controller over your MPD or you've just begun author loops from Maschine into Live? My goal is to know Maschine can be an instrument when f...

Re: KORG padKONTROL or Native Instruments Maschine Mikro

why don't you just drag a pitch +12 onto the track? takes 2 seconds, and you've saved €350 ;) I must admit (and hate to do so publicly) but this is the kind of obvious thing that has been staring me in the face the last 3 days that I would usually chuckle when delivering such information to my frie...

Re: KORG padKONTROL or Native Instruments Maschine Mikro

Whenever I set the key to c3 it's actually hitting c2. I bought the padKONTROL believing it truly was plug-n-play but as each new track requires it to be reconfigured, I'm looking into other options. I figure if I'm always going to have this setup issue, I might as well set up something a bit more u...

KORG padKONTROL or Native Instruments Maschine Mikro

I currently have the padKONTROL but am thinking of returning it because of the "Off an Octave" issues and my lack of understanding how to use the x-y pad for effects. I feel I'll get greater value in having a live instrument (Maschine) over just a controller (padKONTROL). Any input, advice...

Re: Ableton Beginner Needs Controller Advice

@funken, thanks for the input, as I was reading I found that most controllers have this option of a bank of knobs controlling whatever is active on the software while others can be specifically assigned. I learned this of the APC40 and as I am such a fan of the session view and creating compositions...

Re: Ableton Beginner Needs Controller Advice

I finally ordered the the APC40 and padKONTROL last night. (been busy working) I feel you guys on the keyboard but I can't decide which one. I'm thinking the MicroKorg now only because I have found a barely used one for a decent price. I don't have any experience with one though though I understand ...

Re: Ableton Beginner Needs Controller Advice

I think I'm at the Akai APC40, Korg PadKontrol, & a Novation Nocturn with possibly a Korg MicroKey 37 later. I picked up an Odyssey LStand Combo to tuck the APC under the laptop and hold my sound card, I think I'm going with an M-AUDIO Fire Wire Solo for the fire wire. Since I like to stay somew...
