Re: MCE Optibay in new MacBook Pro : setup advice
My first post and I'm a total newb here. If this question was answered already, please point me in the right direction. I'm about to get a new 15" (early 2011) MacBook Pro with their 128GB SSD. I'll swap out the optical drive for an MCE Optibay with a 750GB HDD. I want to run the OS and applic...

Re: MPK Mini / Control Surface
Like this?
Thats weird if its still not working. I dont know, maybe do a right-click on the script and open "Information" and check whether read/write-permissions are alright - but that'd be a quite unusual case.

Re: MPK Mini / Control Surface
one thing i noticed is that under control surfaces, mpk mini does not actually show up anywhere (under control surfaces i have selected MPK 25) , but input and output both have mpk mini as well as mpk mini editor 1 and 2 (which would be those presets correct?) seems like ableton doesnt recognize th...

Re: Please recommend a $300 portable recorder for me
Olympus LS-10... doesnt have that crappy plastic body like the zoom H4N, but since ur only using the line-in: go with the zoom as you wont have to worry about noises coming frmo the body of the recorder. ive used the olympus for both purposes and it has done a wonderful job so far. recording sets is...

Re: HELP-apc40 is sticking. is it my mac set up or my controller
hi, i recently bouhgt an akai apc40 2nd hand but in good condition. when i first got it it had a slight buzz in it. unfortunately that is the case with almost all apc 40 units. mine has it too (depending on which LEDs are triggered) they are sticking and responding slowly. The physical faders or th...

Re: MPK Mini / Control Surface
We had the Impulse-Issue already, that is because the Impulse-Pads dont seem to be automapped (unlike the drumracks). Seems to be a common thing with Impulse (correct me if I'm wrong). The only way to work around this issue is to add a "MIDI-Pitch-Effect" and set it to +24 Semi-Tones. I th...

Re: MPK Mini / Control Surface
did you read the readme.txt included in the zip file? uploading the preset (not the script!) to the MPK is step one out of two . second step is copying the script into the appropiate ableton folder (for windows this should be something like c:\Program Files\Ableton\Live x.x.x\Resources\MIDI Remote S...

Re: fireface 800 help :(
see my last post. it can be fixed but requires either a repeater-cable or a 2nd firewire device chained before the RME.
but isnt it still unclear what system the thread-creator is using?

Re: fireface 800 help :(
almost. except that one special generation of MBPs uses a crappy firewire-chipset that forces you to buy a repeater-cable in order to get it to work with the fireface 800.3phase wrote: actually an apple is supposed to be fool proof

Re: MPK Mini / Control Surface
I have an MPK mini and i tried putting that script in the file and uploading in the editor I can't tell any difference. I am new, but what I really would like right now is to auto-map the 8 knobs onto the same 8 effect knobs that come with most instruments...and if the controls could shift when the...

Re: Complex Pro creating global glitches (even when muted)
I can chime in on this one. Only noticed it recently about 3-4 months ago when preparing my very first live-performances
and im not too happy with it.
As for DJ Sets im going with Re-Pitch whenever possible because of the sound-quality.

Re: wAVELAB vs UAD-2LAPTOP SOLO PLUGINS
If you really feel the need for spending money, you probably should look for something like iZotope Ozone 4 which you can use either in WaveLab Lite or in Ableton. But if you really wanna spend more, go for the UAD - but it wont give you better sound if you dont know what you're doing (same goes for...

Re: wAVELAB vs UAD-2LAPTOP SOLO PLUGINS
Neither will get you a loud and proud commercial sound, that takes practice more than anything, and if you have Live, you have the tools to practice with already. Exactly! On a scale from 1 to 10, with 10 being "studio sound" you can at least get to an 8 or 9 with the integrated tools if ...

Re: Live (without Suite) limitations regarding instruments
The person who made the live-set/owns the suite can of course freeze the instruments-tracks and fix them as audio (just a few mouse-clicks luckily), thus making them usable on the standard edition.
But you/he cannot go back from there (if you care to actively continue working on that live-set)
