Re: exchanging midi data in realtime between max devices?

thanks a lot for your input on this.

udp is a protocol that doesn't guarantee delivery. i was a bit worried that i might lose a note-off for example. but since it's just local communication losing packets is probably not an issue. will try that now

Re: exchanging midi data in realtime between max devices?

okay my use case is the following (i have this already working as a vst but it's rather complicated in terms of needing to create various additional tracks to get the routing working right) it's a device that fits midi notes in the current track to a chord progression - a bit like the schwarzonator....

Re: exchanging midi data in realtime between max devices?

the problem is in my use case i need to process two different midi streams with the same device. i couldn't find an easy way of easily routing midi to separate ports of one device. i managed to find a workaround using multiple tracks but it made the live sets really messy and my principle aim in dev...

exchanging midi data in realtime between max devices?

hi guys, i'm working on a max device that needs to receive midi data from another max device in a different track. i tried using send and receive which works ok but when i record the notes on the receiving track they don't seem to record in perfect time. they actually appear in the recording clip a ...

reproducing a synth sound daphni (caribou side project)

i would like to reproduce the dark hovering synth sound that sets in exactly at 1:47 of this song:

any ideas as to settings and which synth to use? i'm guessing an analog-style one would do the trick

listened to a few songs and i really love it! it's not really pop though in my opinion

the vocal is cool, evades all typical clichees!

Re: live set - mixing in ableton versus mixing externally?

i have another slightly related question: my live set consists of an external moog slim phatty, a drum machine and quite a bunch of softsynths. last time i performed without any kind of mastering plugin on the master channel and realised that my sound overall sounded a bit muddy. does anyone have ad...

automating/modulating send to reverb problem

i have a pretty large live set to which i wanted to add a return track containing a reverb. i now want to automate a the reverb for a few clips. the problem i have is the clip automation (i think it's called modulation actually) only allows me to automate in terms of percentage of the send. this mea...

Re: Choosing chord during a live set, using midi messages

i have written a vst plugin that takes midi input on two channels. one one channel it expects the chords or chord progression. the notes played on the other midi channel are then transposed according to the currently active chord in channel one. it's really useful for my productions because i can es...
