Re: ableton needs to be half the price

This discussion reminds me of the Dilbert cartoon in which the pointy-haired boss says "We must always give the customers what they want!" and Dilbert replies "What the customers want is better products for free."

Re: Does Operator in Live 8

My understanding is that if you already have Operator, then upgrading to Live 8 upgrades Operator. If you don't already have it, you have to buy it if you want it.

I might be wrong, but that's what I believe.

Re: Live 8 is released! And I have two questions.

OK... So I just bought the Live 8 upgrade, installed it, and I am having unlock problems on my laptop. Here's the scoop. My laptop is a Thinkpad T60 with two network interfaces: one wired and one wireless. Normally I run with both of them enabled (in software) but the wireless interface powered down...

Re: Forum reports incorrect time

Yes, the UTC value is correct. However, here in New Jersey, we are on Eastern *Daylight* time (UTC-4) and the forum is reporting Eastern *Standard* time (UTC-5).

Forum reports incorrect time

I have told the Ableton Forum that I am in the USA Eastern time zone, but it reports the time as being an hour earlier than it really is: Right now the local time is UTC-4 hours but the forum is using UTC-5.

Presumably the forum software is not current on the daylight-time rules...

Re: Live 8 is released! And I have two questions.

AFAIK I haven't had any problems related to the Beta regarding offline use! However I'm installing the Suite 8 in 5 minutes, so will test and see "on the real deal" as soon as it's in the system. Reporting back with results if you want? Thanks! Though I'm tempted to authorize the laptop o...

Re: Live 8 is released! And I have two questions.

I'm glad Live hasn't been THIS picky about activation for me, but obviously Live 8 is different and has stronger protection. Another reason I shan't bother upgrading. Why risk it? What if you want to disable wireless whilst playing a live set, just to be safe? From what I have been able to determin...

Re: Live 8 is released! And I have two questions.

Live has no inherent need to be online except for registration pourposes, and with Live 8 the share function in the time of transferring files. I allways disable my network when working in Live, as I'm on a PC and that includes disabling virus protection afterwards, which makes it possible to remov...

Glad to hear it!

Now I just need an answer to my question about the manual and I can order it :-)

Can you try exiting Live, disabling your wifi card, and then launching it again?

Re: Live 8 is released! And I have two questions.

2) I understand that if you register online, and then turn off your computer's network interface, Live 8 stops working. No, I don't think that's correct. After you've registered and Live is authorised and running, I'm 99% sure you can turn your network card on and off as you like and Live will keep...

Re: Footswitch and live looping

There's a Looper instrument in the Audio Effects folder.

If you have a MIDI foot pedal (such as a sustain pedal), you can assign it to control Looper.

That's all you need.

I'd really like to save the $30 if possible.
Collision, corpus and latin perc.
My understanding is that you get those even if you upgrade to the download version.

Live 8 is released! And I have two questions.

1) The boxed version costs 30 USD more than the download version. As far as I can tell, the boxed version contains a box (which I don't care about), a bunch of DVDs (which I also don't care about), and a nicely printed manual (which I would like to have). Is there any way of buying just the manual f...
