Abu Dhabi is ridiculously expensive. The company I'm contracting for puts us up in Al Ain, which is unfortunately 90 minutes from work. As more industry moves into Al Ain, the prices there are rising, too. IMO, worldwide house prices will settle to realistic and affordable levels. They've been hyper...

IMO, the end of the continuous flow of cheap equipment and software can be a good thing.

Those with talent will shine through irregardless of the tools, and the exponentially-growing mountain of useless music will dwindle.

+1.

If only we had the discipline and values to do this ourselves, we wouldn't be in such a mess.

Hopefully, we'll learn this time around.

Had we all been responsible, this wouldn't have happened. Things will be better on the other side of the forced values readjustment. Perhaps those materialistic folks among us will then realize what's really important in life. And it ain't the big house, the 4x4, and the 50" LCD TV. Sais the m...

It will all sort itself out. People are now unable to borrow beyond their means. Mortgages will once again be linked to your income. Credit card limits will be low and also linked to your income. If you want something, earn the money and buy it. The days of irresponsible borrowing are over. I see th...

This isn't just about the government and big business. It's easy to point fingers at someone else. It's also about irresponsible borrowing and lending, and people living beyond their means. Without the personal discipline and values to control ourselves, it has been forced upon us. And when the smok...

Re: Greetings from Abu Dhabi!

What a fantastic place! Perfect weather, kind people with morals, standards, and values, tons of recreational activities and entertainment, superb shopping, and cheap gas. Haven't found a negative yet! Nice, man. How's your ecological footprint down there? Must.. not.. buy.. Hummer.... (rode in my ...

I realize that the UAE isn't the real world, but I don't think irresponsible borrowing and living beyond one's means are an issue here like in the US. And it's not all rich folks here.

I don't know enough about it, though...
