Re: Soft synth with dedicated hardware controller?
That's a great set up he's got going on. Makes me laugh that I changed to ITB to get away from all the cables and shit, and now I'm gonna be digging them all out again. Guess that why I kept them ( nagging feeling in back of mind...) you just can't get the snap or thickness from VSTs ( though millio...

Re: Soft synth with dedicated hardware controller?
The elektron stuff looks good. I can't justify the expense when experimenting with a new direction. I just want a few bits of kit and concentrate on sound texture ( why I'm getting away from soft synths ) in a minimal groove. You say I can connect and sequence all kit into mpc1000 ( then transfer to...

Re: Soft synth with dedicated hardware controller?
Thanks for the replies. Good info. Slightly off topic, but I'm ( probably) putting together a new stripped down hardware set up. This will mainly be an electribe emx-1 and a novation nova sequenced in ableton 8. Maybe using an old soundcraft desk and a kp2. After being ITB for years, this could be a...

Soft synth with dedicated hardware controller?
I originally come from a harware background ( Atari 1040 etc etc ). I then went to ITB with ableton and VSTs. For the last year or so, getting bored of mouse tweaking. I might buy a good soft synth, but don't use it cos computer screen and mouse don't inspire. I have tried midi controllers, but with...

Foldable monitor headphones?
I'm getting into experimenting with ios music on ipad ( gadget's got potential ).
All my studio headphones are pretty bulky. I'm looking for something small and foldable, but accurate, that I can slip into a little bag with my ipad, for on the go use. Any suggestions?

Re: Hardware recorded to audio track sound quality
Khazul, youre clearly up youre arse, so forget it. Leisuremuffin, will definitely be checking out bigwig demo when it comes out. You reckon the sound quality when recording analog will be better?

Re: Hardware recorded to audio track sound quality
I think you may be missing my point. The set up is largely irrelevant. Playing external analog gear through a midi track is fine. I am then routing this midi track to an audio track to record the sound. The degredation in sound quality when captured in the audio track is noticeable when compared to ...

Hardware recorded to audio track sound quality
I've been using software for many years, having originally come from a hardware background ( Atari 1040, Akai etc ). I've recently been inclined to experiment with hardware again, with a xoxbox, and novation nova. Here's the rub. When I'm playing through a midi channel, the sound quality is A1, but ...

online mastering recommendations
hi, due to previou s iffy results from online mastering companies, i tend to (painstakingly) master my own stuff. However, I thought i'd give it another go. I'm finishing a new ( club ) track, and have a version with nothing on the master channel, and one i have mastered myself. i want to compare my...

Xoxbox connection help
Ok, so I recently got hold of a xoxbox, been messing around with it, and got some decent patterns. I now want to put these into a song and build a track. Thing is, it's been a long time since I've used midi and hardware, as I've been totally in the box for a few years. I would really appreciate some...

Mini audio interface?
Hi, quick question. Away from my main set up I'm putting together a " micro " set up. Mini keyboard, speakers etc, all just to switch on and go for a quick jam. Thing is obviously gonna get latency on drums if jam turns into something, so I'm after a kind of inexpensive micro audio interfa...
